If you can find the entire video of this 2003 Paris Opera production, it's well worth the effort. Count di Luna IMHO is disappointing while Alagna, Radvanovsky and Zajick really shine with youthful splendor. I also love the staging, a welcome change from the well known and worn out McVicar production. The real insights come from comparing this performance to the 2011 Met Opera/McVicar staging with Hvorostovsky as di Luna. Radvanovsky got off to a shaky start in the 2011 performance, while Zajick projected a deeper and more complex interpretation of Azucena. Interestingly, I was surprised by the recording quality, you can hear the prompter, which doesn't bother me but considering this was 2003, it came as a surprise. I wonder if Sondra ever (secretly) wished that she could perform Leonora like Leontyne Price in an old fashion costume from the 60's and 70's instead of constantly being outfitted in a military trench coat or a duster LOL.
