I am originally a baritone player and just got bassoon yesterday. I wanted to get a woodwind instrument this school year, and I remember my band teacher asking me when I asked for a new instrument if I wanted a challenge, and I said yes. His replay was handing me a bassoon and I can't wait to play it!! I know how to arrange it and even play it. I had a reed that came with it (it was a little torn and half and splintered, I'm surprised I pulled a few notes). All I need left from the band teacher is a new reed and some grease. I went on RU-vid to see what it would sound like with some practice. I'm so excited. :)
Can you describe to me how you play? I'm blind and I can't see what you're doing. My name is Raymond and I'm 28 years old and I live in Georgia in the United States.I listen to any kind of music but rap and I play guitar and sing.My hobbies are computers, music, swimming and going to lions camp and talking to and meeting new people.
Tips for a new player: careful on what reeds you buy because its hard to tell if one will be good or crappy. I always have to adjust when I get a new one. And be careful on how much you let your bassoon lean on your left hand while playing because it will hurt and can cause health problems with your hands later on.
don't cross your legs when you're playing and wear your belt because your notes are''moving''!Also, high notes require more air than the low ones.Don't forget this
i switched to the basoon from the alto sax and im having a little bit of a hard time changing cleffs and new fingerings for my school band but so far the basoon is mad awesome and i think if i stick with it it'll be wayy worth it
i freakin hate the bassoon no offence to anyone that plays it, but i play it and i hate soooooooooo much i cant wait to play trombone next year in high school
if u wish to have a bigger sound, more impressive, try Using Vocal Chords when ui play... that make 3 years that i play the bassoon, every SINGLE F""""" DAYS.... Good job! =P
This is amazing! I have been playing for almost 2 years now, but my (school's) bassoon is 30+ years old, so my bassoon does not sounds nearly a good as yours. a little more on the posture, but great job!
besides the posture thing it wasn't bad, i was surprised how well you kept a steady tempo, also i would recommend a softer reed, or just getting more comfortable with higher notes, thats when you lost the most air
