Looking for a scientific view on wearables? Look no further! My name is Rob, and I am a scientist who is into all sort of wearables, but wants to make sure they are accurate. On this channel, I test different devices, and see how I can use them to improve my life.
I am life-logging and quantifying everything about my body, mind and surroundings. My measurements take more than 11 hours a week and include a weekly brain MRI, sleep EEG and gut microbiome composition. I am quite possibly doing the ultimate "quantified self". As a scientist, I specialise in biological informatics, which means I write computer programs to analyse data. I now use these skills to learn more about myself and I try to improve my life. On this channel, I describe the whole process, why I do it, and what I have learned while doing it.
You got the early firmware... they regularly update and adjust based on user feedback which they collect. You should wait at least 6 months to test, but probably not really possible.
hello planning to buy huawei watch band 9, is this recommendable? i saw your vids, also do you have recommendation that is cheap and relevant? please reply i watch your vids a lot thanks!
Could it be possible that the software is on a Beta stage? Because my HUAWEI watches are all extremely accurate. Sleep tracking works way better than on any apple watch (have the Series 10 here)
Have you reviewed any of YHE BP doctor watches I am interested in the Doctor fit model which still claims medical accuracy for heart and spo2 at affordable prices ?
And how about Huawei's watches for GPS accuracy and number of steps + calories? I'm planning to get a Huawei watch, probably the Huawei Band 9 or the Huawei Watch Fit 3.
Ben, nice channel, but you didn't do your homework before this review, you have omitted the most Scientific and fancy functions of this new watch: ECG, Arterial Stiffness detection, respiratory check, sleep breathing awareness, heart glance report function,.... emotion management, rout tracking, When cycling, broadcasting all data from the watch to phone screen - how it works? this can be something cool, Sharing heart rate on other devices - does it work? While running: vertical oscillation, ground contact and balance, ability index, spO2 ....And the most exciting ...first time in Huawei watches The NFC payments...
Thanks Rob for your videos. For me, swimming is always missing from your tests... Besides, why not test Huawei watch D2 with its blood pressure monitor and sleep apnea screening it seems....
So it is mentioned in the video several times but we don’t see how it is really addressed in the charts. Basically Rob mentions the Apple Watch often drops out when other watches will misreport. It appears if Apple can’t get what it considers to be a good measure or it has anomalies it simply won’t give you the number. We should see what percentage of readings are reported vs discarded by the watch. If you have 1000 measurements and the Apple Watch gives you 950 of them at 1.0 accuracy but discards 50 results I wouldn’t treat that the same or call that a nearly perfect result.
I'm curious if the sleep tracking was affected heavily by how different respiratory system is after covid. Personally after getting COVID recently my temperature, breathing, and heartrate regulation has been quite poor even after a month. I've always assumed these are the primary metrics the watches use to check sleep cycles.
When people are complaining about 1-2 heart beats being missed it’s really not an issue. It’s way within the margin of error of any device. People still try to tell me that a heart rate chest band is more accurate, but in real life working out, jogging and cycling I really can’t tell the difference between my wahoo heart rate monitor measurements and the Apple Watch. I even tried several times running both devices wahoo and Apple Watch while cycling. There’s no difference. I prefer using the Apple Watch as I find chest straps more uncomfortable.
Apple watch se (2023) vs apple watch 9, if heart rate tracking is of priority. Kindly recommend, as the price difference right now in sale is negligible
My Withers Sleep analyzer reports that I barely get any deep sleep whereas my Garmin Fenix 7 reports a lot. Both the sleep analyzer and the Garmin Fenix 7 are midrange in their ranking (i.e. not bad) so I am not sure what sense to make of them being so far off from each other.
