These are "smart meters" that flood your home with unnecessary, cancer causing radio frequency waves so utility companies can pocket more of your money and lay off employees that used to have jobs reading meters. These devices make a lot of people very sick. I'm amazed at the amount of people that just bend over, allow these to be installed in their homes and then just pay the same or higher water rates without thinking twice about it. If you care about your health, demand to keep an analog meter! Some state laws have been put in place to protect you from this. Many people remove these smart meters themselves and reinstall analog at their own expense!

Wow!! So much improvement!! I started out on a small volunteer Fire Dept. (1974)where an outside overhead fire siren was the only way you knew there was a call...Guys would sleep at home with their windows opened or cracked just so the could hear it....

The main reason for the flashing yellow arrow is solving the Yellow Trap which is a dangerous situation where the circular green for the unprotected left turn terminates before oncoming traffic's does. It also helps by allowing more efficient phasing. Driver understanding was at best a secondary reason, and that's assuming it was a reason for the change at all.

None of what the flashing yellow arrow is true. People these days are stupid. You can make a left turn with a green light without the arrow. The sign said left turn yield on Green. That means you have to stop see if there's a car coming if the light was green without the arrow. People who complain and claim it's confusing shouldn't be driving at all. Ever since those flashing yellow arrow traffic lights were installed, there was more accidents because people we're pulling in front of on coming traffic. The blinking yellow arrow, nobody stops or look and then got hit by an oncoming car.

it also prevents a condition called yellow trap. this is a hazard with 5 light Protected Permitted Left Turn signals is they can't indicate a permissive turn on circular red. this is common in Lead Lag split setups. get outta the gutter, go to a site called "Midimagic" and read about yellow trap and flashing yellow arrows you bozo. if you can't understand the flashing yellow arrow, get off the road. buzz off

For the vast majority of drivers, flashing yellow arrows are not confusing, and are safer to use for major roads as well as more efficient. That being said, driver understanding does not seem to be the main motivation for putting them out, but rather preventing a yellow trap as someone said earlier, as well as allowing for more efficient traffic phasing. In fact, circular greens are still put up for minor roads as well as roads without separate left turning lanes, and drivers turning left are still expected to know what they mean, even if the main road uses flashing yellow arrows. If confusion was the main issue (which it wasn't), it would be easier - and cheaper - to simply put up more "Left Turn Yield on Green" signs.

To add on to what I wrote, both the traditional circular green permissive left turn signal and the flashing yellow arrow have their place, and the vast majority of drivers understand both, as they are expected to. I doubt there will ever be a time when circular greens are completely retired, since new intersections that use them for the unprotected (permissive/yield to oncoming traffic) left turns are still sometimes built. They're nowhere near as common, but they're not all being mothballed either.

Okay, what you say has a logic and above all it is the result of an established habit, but it cannot be denied that a full green light in correspondence with one or more turning left only lanes is contradictory and can lead, by logic, in mistake. The arrow is better, since these are turning lanes, and a flashing yellow arrow should certainly make the situation coherent and better understood. i'm Talking as an european who lived several years in the US. Here we have different situations but I'm in a position to make comparisons and see it from a different point of view.

I lived in Burnsville from 1984-1995. We lived on the route that the fire trucks took during the fire muster. It was very exciting. There were trucks from all the surrounding communities, some far away! And many, many older and historic trucks. It was really noisy - all the trucks had their sirens going (I don't think all the noise comes through on this video). When we lived there was when they built the big new police and fire complex of buildings. The forces added many more police and fire fighters at that time. I remember how the fire fighters were also paramedics. This is a great community event - nice to see it still going. :-)
