Capital One always has the most straight-forward options, it seems. Really love that amount of flexibility. That coupled with the price match, flight disruption/sometimes flight insurance, and price freeze makes me really enjoy using them! It's a shame the other travel portals don't really keep up with that.
Very informative video. Btw, I read somewhere that you could pay the annual fee using the miles on the card @ 1.5 miles per dollar. Which means the annual fee is about 6,333 points. If you get a SUB of 50K points, that covers nearly 8 years of annual fees - EVEN IF you didn't use the card anytime during all those years.
This is exactly what I needed to see. I just booked my first business class flight, and I've never visited a lounge before. I've been looking for information about which lounge I would be allowed to visit since Copa doesn't have its own lounge but is part of the Star Alliance. You made it very clear who has access. Thank you. I have such an early flight. I hope there's a comfy seat and some hot coffee for me tomorrow morning.
@@ScottLeRay As it turned out only the Turkish Airline lounge was open the morning of my flight. It was nice. Small but comfortable and the breakfast selection had something for everyone. . Everything on the breakfast buffet was delicious and the correct temperature.
@@ScottLeRayI am a points and miles traveler. After I paid off the accounts I was offered Optima card, my accountant said to decline the offer. Ever since, I have not been able to get approved again. I received a mailer for Hilton Aspire and was declined a few days ago. I only want to obtain an Amex because those points matter for me.
I have the Venture X and really enjoy it. My P2 got a pre approval for the Venture so we may pick it up just for the SUB and down grade afterwards keeping the Venture X. It’s a simple and easy to use catch all card
It was one of the first cards I got when I started the points and miles thing. That was back when they gave you 10x back at hotels.com, and then hotels.com turned around and gave you your 10th night free (another 10x). That was great times.
Get the United Business card and downgrade the Explorer to the Gateway. Same annual fee, same 2 lounge passes, but you get 5,000 bonus miles annually by having the business and a personal card.
I have the Strata Premier & it’s a workhorse. Makes sense to get the Double Cash next after looking at the spending breakdown in my Citi app. The quadfecta easily pays for itself every year. I’m stoked to be in Citi’s ecosystem. I’m looking forward to hearing how it goes when someone makes a claim with Strata travel protections. I’m slightly worried that it will be difficult to successfully make a claim and be compensated.
I love the pay yourself feature so you can use miles to cover the annual fee. I also have the barclay American Airlines aviator red card and that also has great benefits.
I had the united airlines explorer card but I updated my card to the quest card because I have over 5000.miles on united airlines and I feel that you can get better states on the quest card over the explorer card
About to pick up the Citi AA Platinum. Ima grab it for the slightly elevated SUB and test out in the first year while the AF is waived if I can 1) Fly enough on AA to keep it around and 2) if stacking with the AA dining and AA shipping portal with my normal spend can get me high enough status.
In my experience they like to lie about the upgrade availability if you book more than a basic room. They really don’t want you upgraded to something actually nice and have told me the room I booked is the upgraded version.
@@ScottLeRay right now I use the Gold for Food/Dining, Venture X for catch all, Savor for entertainment, and for hotel I have been working up the Hilton ladder and just need the aspire at this point to complete the Hilton line up. Depending on how nice Citi will be for me grabbing some of their other cards I want to at least grab what I can for the subs and mix in a custom cash or two for some other expenses.
Got the United Explorer card. I live near newark airport and only fly united. Occasionally, go to LA and SD, so the free luggage is a benefit. @ScottLeRay
