I have the same model. Currently running OSX 10.5.5. My delima is to make the Opencore works. DO you have any guide to create opencore installer. 1. Create opencore from other Mac machine. 2. Create opencore from windows machine and install to this iMac. 3. Create opencore install using this iMac machine and install to it. Appreciate and hoping some guide how to do it.
Seems to be a different commputer when the screen is taken away,it seems to have an ssd drive already installed, but next closeup of ibside shows old sata harddrive still in place??
I'm going to attempt this today 6/24/24 I have not done this method before without doing TSOP first hopefuly it works. I will post here later my finds. PS : i'm adding a 500gb sata drive.
So it did work and I was amazed because this was the first time I work on a 1.6 I've worked with 1.0 up to 1.5 and had to TSOP flash them every time and I have worked with chimp before and it just wouldnt work with soft modding which was way easier. The bad thing though, as soon as I finished the procudure the xbox wouldnt turn on and even changed the power brick for one that I know for a fact works and it wouldnt turn on, after doing some digging I found out that I need to change the 5 transistors which will do some time later. In conclusion, your method worked! so thank you for that. I'm amazed that you were the only video I found on youtube that actually worked and there aren't at least on my experience no other videos explaining that 1.6 only needs to be softmodded and not flashed in order to upgrade your HDD.
Thanks, great vid. May I ask which brand of RAM you used there? I'm hoping to buy the same model and year of late 2013 iMac. I was thinking of attaching an SSD externally in a caddy plugged into one of the USB 3 slots on the back. Would the speed be as fast as yours internally? Or does the external attachment via USB limit the speed? Thanks again.
these units were pretty upgradeable, granted with quite a bit of work. the gpu can also be upgraded to like a quadro k1000m 1gb graphics. although unnless its for tinkering is it really worth it these days?
hey bro! a tip for you... if you are doing this and accidently break the lcd temp sensor you can actually replace it with the lcd temp sensor from the mid 2011 21.5 inch imac as the connector is identical the cable is just a lot longer... i found this out when i broke my oem lcd temp sensor and the only one i could find was one for the 2011 model...
I just bought one of these, and the instruction manual was vague, to say the least. Anyway, I just set it up after watching your vid, had a play, and I managed to join a couple of test pieces of steel together, and run some lines of weld on them. So thanks!
a step by step Video guide on installing Big Sur Or Catalina would be much appreciated - ive got the same Dell Optiplex 9020 MT with stock intel graphics , cant find a clear guide , the one on Tonymacs86 is very long and confusing. thanks in advance
Someone please talk about the fact that these computers are no longer supposed with security updates from Apple. I agree that they are fantastic in terms of speed and power but what about security anyone who has knowledge of this please add to this conversation I just wanna understand it.
Older MacOs versions no longer receive security updates and are obsolete. You can update these older systems to a newer supported MacOs using Dosdude's patcher and they become current again. Search Dosdude's patcher for more info.
@@retrotech2020 i have the exact same computer I upgraded the memory from 4gb to 8gb and it is better now, I was thinking about do the full upgrade with i7 860s 32gb ram and ssd disk, I only use Logic Pro x and it could be worth it, very nice video good job done
Trying to figure out why my PC wouldn't POST after the CPU upgrade. The obvious answer is because I didn't upgrade the power supply, but could it be that I've neglected to modify a setting or need to reset the CMOS or something like that?
Thanks for that, I've just ordered one off Amazon for £115. I just like the fact that its gasless & don't have to find a big bottle of CO2. All the best & have a happy Christmas.....
My 1.6 I did at insignia launch I put in a 500gb SSD.. it did not need chimp I partitioned the new drive without external power just a PC and USB SATA cable... I'm wondering if this is a PAL Xbox u did here not because it needed power but because of the extra steps like that custom extras disc u had. it was way different from what I had done to my stock HDD softmod + SSD swap.
Thanks for the nice video. I have an identical iMac with an SSD drive (two SSDs in fusion drive) and a Catalina system. I would like to ask about the installation without formatting the SSD (directly system upgrade) like you did. Is the system and its performance OK? My mac is really full of software and I don't want to complicate it with Migration Assistant form Time Machine yet, I read that it can cause problems. Thank you, Kamil
Hi , what is the size when buying a power supply for the pc? I've bought one but it's not giving enough power and the pc keeps turning off and then on again. Im trying to figure out if its from the power cable or is it from inside a part that needs replacing.
Going to mod my 1.6 crystal. Need a soldering iron to take out the old capacitors. One actually burst as I tested it - it didn’t cause any damage as far as I can tell. Can’t wait to try and mod it!
Hey there, love your content and style of it! Me and a few other guys are doing a budget computer build off if you like to join, good content for all and an enjoyable video to make (budget will be 30£) and I’ll throw you a discord invite if it sounds like something you might be Interested in!
Does that ram actually run at 1866mhz? I have 1600mhz installed and it only runs at 1333mhz... ive seached online and dell forums only to have dell techs amd others tell me that the x51 can only do 1333mhz and me tell them I bought the damn thing and show them the build list showing 1600mhz. I know 100% that it was 1600mhz but I hadnt used the PC in a while and the cmos battery died and it lost whatever setting dell had set. Im on latest bios and cant find any solution to get ram running back at 1600mhz
@retrotech2020 I've done all I could in the bios, including reverting to defaults and disconnecting the cmos battery (because it was dead 😆) After replacing the battery it still doesn't show proper speed, I'm lost to what it could be. Thanks for the reply
She posts 🙌 Just wondering if that AIO is pumping fluid? those temps where high for idle in the bios. That said awesome build for the price and yes X99 is still a goer in 2023, my main rig is a v4 xeon 💪
