Few bands on their 23rd lap around the scene could claim to be in “just getting started” mode as much as punk stalwarts Silverstein.
The release of their tenth studio album, Misery Made Me, finds the group spring boarding off the heights they’ve reached over the past handful of years; their latest album (2020’s A Beautiful Place To Drown) adding 80 Million streams to a mind-numbing career total of 500 Million.
Inspired by the past two years, Misery Made Me is a depiction of Silverstein - and world at large’s - collective turmoil, frustration, and anxiety.
Connor Lovat-Fraser of Boys Night Out (my other favorite post-hardcore band) was dating Julia (who the song is about) at the time of her death. Terrible tragedy. My heart-felt condolences go out to everyone affected by her loss, especially to Shane and Connor.

Actually. Before I knew what the song was about. The lyrics already connected to my soul. I've lost my mom this year. I can't expound the loss I feel. I felt like I lost a huge part of myself. But life moves on
La letra When I'm lying in your bed Play the motions through my head You know that I'm thinking, I'm thinking And I have reasons to believe that I'm not the only one you spend this time with But I'll stay You say you're weak You won't let me down You won't let me down You lie through your teeth You smile in your sleep You smile in your sleep When we met You said we were the same You know that we're different We're different And all those times you promised me that Everything would work out in the end You were gravely mistaken You say you're weak You won't let me down You won't let me down You lie through your teeth You smile in your sleep You smile in your sleep You lie You lie You lie You lie You lie through your teeth You won't let me down You lie I deserve better then this I dream of steel Maroon and warm Your end (Your end) Your end (Your end) You gasp for air I'll see this through I'll see through you You're pale (You're pale) You're pale (You're pale) You're pale blue eyes When your lying in your bed Your eulogy's been read You know that it's fitting As you lie You say you're weak You won't let me down You won't let me down You lie through your teeth You smile in your sleep You smile in your sleep You smile You smile You smile You smile I deserve better than this
Silverstein is the best band of this genre, at least for me, their songs are so introspective and somehow always find a way to give me goosebumps, I have been a fan since 2009 and on each album there is always one that brings me to tears.
