Welcome to Homeschool 101! I'm a homeschoolin' mama of 4 and love sharing our homeschool journey with you. Check out my videos for curriculum reviews and simple organization ideas. Don't forget to subscribe!
Hi thanks. Could you do a close up of your habit and personal growth boxes? I couldn't see it! Also, could you do a break down of your chore pack? Thank you
Preparing for my first year of homeschooling and I AM AFRAID FOR MY LIFE (LOL). Thanks for this video, you literally calmed my anxiety down regarding the planning part. I am still searching for the right curriculum/ program for my rising 6th grader but you really made it a lot easier for me, thanks a bunch!
Me I will convince you to take apart your video manual or rather Liz. I follow Liz at Simply home school and this upcoming year will be my first year doing it. I’ve already prepped all the curriculum for 3 kids grade5 and 2 grade 6. We haven’t started the year with my video manual Oates torn out yet but I can already tell it’s the best thing I’ve done. Tore out all the pages from the video manuals put them in sheet protectors and put them in a 1 1/2 inch binder. I took the pages from the appendix in the video manual and put them in a separate 1 inch binder with each sheet and a sheet protector. It seems like it would be daunting, but it wasn’t too bad. It went really fast with the video manuals. It’s so much easier to find the pace. You need in the video manual when it’s in a binder.
I absolutely love these videos! I'm much more confident now to start in September. I am organizing everything I need to know and do so I can have less stress.
I'm about to start homeschooling in September wirh my granddaughter...I can truly say this has been the most helpful advice that I have heard ( I've heard alot😅)...I was a bit timid to get started but this video has truly relaxed my nerves🎉
Thank you I’m new at homeschooling and planning this is my first year! I’m so nervous this is so helpful! I’m in NY which has so many restrictions so hopefully I can figure it out! God bless you and best of luck this homeschool year!
When you say your brain doesn't work like everyone else's... are you talking about different learning/thinking styles or saying that you have different cognitive abilities? I know I say all the time that my brain works differently than everyone else's because I'm on the autism spectrum. I also know there are other things like ADD/ADHD that makes someone cognitively different. So I was wondering if you, too, had one of those or something similar.
Hi! I was looking at your website and I am wondering if you will happen to have this available in 2022-2023 format. Thank you for all your homeschool help!
This was so so helpful, thanks!! I have watched your videos in that past and have shifted to become more relaxed as well so seeing how you put it into practice was great! I would love to see your other area where you store your "extras". You kept saying, I'm going to put this stuff downstairs. I, too, have a downstairs area for stuff we're not currently using but honestly it feels like stuff goes down there to die sometimes. I don't even pull it back out. I'd love to see how you organize yours! Annndddd - I'd love to hear two other things: 1. Do you have your older kiddo keep a planner or anything?I have twin boys turning 11 and am trying to think through how to keep things simple but also teach them to manage their time and school work. 2. When/How do you grade their work? With schooling four kiddos and a baby crawling around I often don't get to grading their work but, overtime, I've seen it give my kids some freedom to be lazy in their work because they know I only check it every so often.
Hey Jenny! Sorry I missed your comment! Uh... my basement is usually where curriculum goes to die too! ;) I do have a bit of organization, but it is currently being overrun by my hubby's RC Airplane addictions. Maybe one of these days I'll show it! My older kids don't keep planners. My oldest (almost 13) probably SHOULD, but it just hasn't been a priority yet. As relaxed as we are these days it's hard to plan for "just to the next thing". Know what I mean? I don't check school work. We're pretty much all together during school time and so far I feel pretty confident knowing if they have mastered a skill enough to move on. We're about at the end of that with math for my oldest, so at some point I'll have to just check his answers and move on.
I have not used CLE for language arts. We've used it for math, but started in level 3 or 4. There math is very thorough so I would assume LA would be too.
Nope! Too many kids, too much craziness! :) We pretty much don't do anything in our homeschool the way we did it the first year or two. I'm much, MUCH more laid back and our life is totally different now.
Wow, my daughter is going through all of these things you mentioned about your daughter. She's now 4 and was diagnosed with Global Delay Disorder. She's in PT, OT and speech as well. She's currently attending a pre-school specifically for children with communication disorders. I am getting ready to work there part time and I'll be in her class so I'm excited to dive into the education world and learn all that I can before she graduates their program. I really want to home school but have been told that since she is "special needs", it wouldn't be a good idea. Your video is very encouraging and I hope that when the time comes, I'll be able to homeschool my kiddos.
Hey Audrey! Sorry I missed your comment! You can TOTALLY homeschool your daughter!! Homeschool has been the best decision ever for her. I can't imagine her being in a traditional school setting. She's excelling where she's at. She might not be quite "on level" but she's learning and progressing. Good luck!
Hi! My name is Anna, I’m a homeschooling mom of 4, ages 10/9/7/4 so I have three school age kids and a tag along preschooler too! I loved your planning video and free planning spreadsheet, it was so helpful and exactly what I needed to get all the info out of my head and on “paper” lol! We’re doing Gather Round too, tomorrow is our last day of Dinosaurs! It was great!! I love this video too, I’ve been homeschooling since my oldest was in preschool and have found the same thing, I’ve definitely shifted and morphed over the years, I think that’s good 😁 I loved seeing how you organize everything! Thank you for sharing 😁
They are a Thirty One product, but honestly, I've purchased all of mine from eBay. But this is what you are looking for... www.mythirtyone.com/us/en/product/4787
Can a parent be acused of educational neglect if you withdraw your child with an IEP from public school to be homeschooled, for failing to obtain or allow to receive recommended educational services for a diagnosed learning disorder?
I don't believe so... not where I live at least! Definitely check with your state, but you can provide most any service your child needs even while homeschooling!
It was a long time ago, but I *think* I took this one to Staples. (It used to be less than $5 to bind!) I now have a TruBind spiral binder and assorted coil sizes to bind everything myself.
My daughter has somewhat severe GDD. She's in 4K on an IEP and 5. We've had services since she was 7 months old. Next year for Kindergarten, I've already been told they'll recommend an ID (?) situation so she won't have class contact except when they are playing. It's disappointing and I've been considering whether or not keeping her home may be more beneficial. Mostly her skills now are all based on behavior modification and I just don't want to see her passed grade to grade with nothing to show for it because she's a smart little cookie despite her challenges.
