I am Alexander Ewald, a music and video producer from Berlin. I create music technology tutorials, demos and walkthroughs, and all sorts of content about synthesizers, drum machines, and music production.
I bought one because it has 37 keys, no pointless sliders and the price is great. I have no regrets. The 37 keys was absolutely a must-have. Can't see the point of 25 or even 32 keys.
Hey buddy absolutely love these videos on FX, thank you. Can you help recreate the feedback loop heard at 3:20 - 3:33 in this track , please? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wWI4O0ocBBw.html
I'm torn between the pro and the X. The pros extra features seem really nice. Being ableton to manipulate ableton clips without having to use keyboard and mouse seems quite nice. But I don't know if it's worth almost double the price.
They are both really great units. I would go with the Pro if you are a power-user and work with it every day. For casual music making, the X does just fine.
its ridiculous we live in 2024 and we cannot just plug in and play with our daws and outside hardware/software. Literally just companies being pathetic and petty.
I was interested in this thinking it was the Komplete 14 bundle but for a monthly subscription instead of an all upfront price….buuut no it’s almost entirely ‘ROMplers’ in other words just sample based VSTs with very limited control over them. That may be useful for beginners or people that don’t want to create their own sounds but for musicians, sound designers and audio engineers there are very few useful plug ins in this. Massive X, guitar rig, Ozone and a few FX (reverb, delay, EQ, Compressor) they’re asking $25 a month for this and it is really not worth it at all
Thank you for this. I really struggle with Akai MPK Mini key bed. It feels so flimsy and it's hard capture the feeling of playing a decent keyboard. Very different than, say, a Moog. Wondering the tactile experience with this Arturia. thanks!
I wanted to buy a hardware synth but pigments basically sounds like what i want. However, im a big hardware person, which midi con troller do you think does best to control and sound design on pigments?
Don’t buy this POS! It doesn’t integrate with your standalone gear out of the box. You have to map everything and it nearly impossible. You have to map this pos to your computer software as well. Downloading the software takes at least 45min on a M2 Mac because it’s downloading entering codes. Then downloading again, creating a Ilok account to get passcodes to unlock your plugins, installing all this sht. It’s a mess. Just the fact you have to use MPC Beats instead of your normal MPC software should tell you something. That’s taking up extra space on your hard drive for no reason other than the fact they don’t know how to integrate them both. Get yourself a KeyStep Pro and thank me later.
What can i do with the latency? I mean when I want to record/loop keys, synths but Insbesondere the drums...so when I hit the button its has a latency and I can't do it fast and accurantly! Pls help!
Sounds like a too high buffer issue. You need to make sure your buffer is no more than 128, preferably 64 or even 32 depending on the bus speed of/to your audio interface. It can be controlled under settings in Ableton.
great and helpful material, thanks. What type of computer do you use for production? I tried to work on abl live11 with win7 16gb ram 4 cores but audio dropouts appear.😅
Alexander, thank you so much for this informative video on the Arturia Minilab 3. I was wondering if you might be able to do a video showing how to setup the Minilab 3 for use with Pigments which would be a great benefit to your subscribers?
Hello 🙃 i m sorry i am french so i don’t understand if the sounds in Ableton live that we are hearing in the video are the sounds of the analog rythm or the sounds of Ableton ?

Having trouble getting the second method to work. I can really only get the Rytm to control the drum kit in Ableton when I have the Rytm set to overbridge. Even then it will only control one pad within Ableton, so all 12 pads on Rytm control one pad within Ableton . Ive played around with different ways of doing this and can't figure out why this is happening..
I have launchkey 49 and the pads feel very similar to my launchpad x. I actually really like it's simplicity and the 8x8 layout compared to the fiasco I went through with a maschine mk3. I hate that thing with a passion
Does it has good integration with logic pro? I am a new in djing and production and have bought logic pro becouse i love its design and simpleness. Hope you reply becouse i am considering buying this launchpad. Nice review btw. Very helpful.
I’m not on GS forum or any other forum. There is a guy with mental health issues that has been pretending to be me spreading nasty comments on various synth forums and websites.
