25 years plus in construction the Less trips upstairs the better pal wether your a labourer painter chippie n yeah I’m with you one room sprayed done cutting is unnecessary like you say whack it once when u do the ceiling n then again when you hit the walls
Tnx. But my Toshiba satellite from 2007 with W7 ultimate doesn't have the recovery option in the menu. You have 6 options mine only have the first 5. I'm lost.
New builds are a mugs game, professional snaggers clawing back made it impossible. The rates are dog dirt I don't care how old we are. it's impossible to make more than a poor day rate
Your working probably killing yourself for buttons .. that price is taking the piss .. Have some pride and realise your worth and walk . Loads more money to be made doing private work. .. And easier to. Lets face it . Your not getting any younger lol
I tried the "freezer bag" tip today and I must say that it worked a treat! So much easier to clean up and a lot less wasted paint as you can just squeeze it back into the tin like a piping bag :) Thank you for sharing 👏👏👏
I do house bashing at a price, not day rate. You always end up doing more than you get paid for ??? Just fill that, just caulk this. Everything is left for the decorating to fix, like they say ! Not my job fuck em lol😂 but we cant get away with this excuse 😂
Spot on what you are saying mate I always try get price when I can but just had enough of it now it’s not possible to make anything above day rate on new builds using brush and roller I’ve gone on to a new site this week for a well established builder and painting contractor and can’t believe the prices they are giving it’s an insult to the trade I’m going back to a company working on day rate or hours price work just isn’t worth doing anymore in my opinion
@@mattykell6785 Good luck Son. It has always been a hard Auld game. Once a brother of the brush, forever a brother of the brush. Stud’s Lonnigan knew that.
Sounds like a race to the bottom mate. If prices are low and traditional methods are no longer profitable then unless there is a shortage of labour sufficient to drive prices up then they will keep wanting more from you for less each year. Sounds like production painters need to take collective action!
I'm sure the instructions are to use your usual fuel to get the temperature up, then add these. It didn't look like you had the fire going well enough to begin with. The night briquettes are just to keep a slow burn. I'm happy with mine using them this way.
My log burner heats my central heating and hot water and i have tried a few briquettes and I find the heat laughable to. so I'm still on coal and wood .and yes wood suppliers are taking the piss as more people are turning to log burner for cheap fuel. but if the prices go up more people will turn back to gas and the log suppliers will cry as there will be one to sell to. joke will be on them.
I told you so Candleman in a previous post! Painters spraying the plots has destroyed it for painters . The prices will continue to decrease as every cowboy under the sun will start spraying them ( not painters everyone and anyone. ) Mark my words ! I am a retired Painter and Decorator after 44 long years at a hard old game and I have seen how these things pan out. GREED FOR MORE MONEY IS ALWAYS!!! The downfall. I think that you are correct when you say that the brush and roller guys will desert the new build work but it will not mean that your price will go up, as well as the price going down, you will be asked to snag your own plots with brush and roller and if you say NO! You will be out of a job because the cowboys that picked up the spraying will also agree to do the snagging for the shitey prices . Even Mr Magoo would be able to see what’s coming. 😊
Spraying wasn’t a thing when I did my apprenticeship in 2004. I’m actually looking at the erbuar 600 sprayer cos I’ve got some detailed coving coming up and I don’t want to do it by hand. Too much going up and down on the ladder for me. I know what you mean though, I’m retraining to be a sparky now. Honoured to see I’m still in your intro. Lady M ❤️
good to see you again , we are getting new doors fitted next week just the cottage style from Howson's as an old journey man i am undecided were to spray them or brush them , picked 2 colourers for inside the lounge im going with gold as i hung a lovely vinyl wallpaper and have a Huge gold mirror , the gold is emulsion comes with a base coat from my local crown centre i will then apply a gloss sealer on top, hope it looks good the other doors a light grey, totaly undersnd you have to make a decent wadge , you wont do that on basic pay , i chucked the painting on 2009 at the recession , after sitting at home for 9moth with no money coming in apart from the wifes and the odd homer i bought a burger van in a busy inds estate it cost me £20grand , i got a good looking couple of good looking girls (eye candy ) to do the serving , i done the cooking , had ques down the road at tea breaks lol was pulling in £3 grand a week from mon to friday 8-2 hard work as your constantly going to cash and carry and cleaning , girls were on cash in hand in them days up here in jocland i worked for the bell group they were shyte never paid any money and it was all what i called industrial work ie , mod and new schools the best money i made was with another company called baxter &gilespie new houses wich i was used to before it went tits up in 2009 and we all got paid off
Coming up to peak retirement for the City and Guilds guys , who will be replacing them in the next 10 years plus ? , i have no interest at my age to start spraying and thankfully i dont house bash anymore , also expecting a huge problem with self employment with this present government in the next year or two which will drive more people out , ive noticed locally that painters seem to be turning away from big site work in general and have had a couple of mates going with smaller firms . Regards
Before I quit site work I could smash out two 3 bed persimmon houses in 5 days using an airless spray machine . Even wood work was blasted in with white emulsion and then top coated with gloss. The price was £750 per plot. Absolutely shit but that's what you get with the firm i subed off so corners had to be cut
I have never had a problem with this frame and I have four of them. That said it may not stand up to abuse. I personally clean mine thoroughly after every job and make sure it’s all dry before I put it away. Look after your tools. Try the Wooster wide boy with the wing nuts, this has less profile and has more metal and if it comes loose then crank it up tighter. I have this version too. Moral of the story, yes Purdy could use a higher grade of metal in their fixings and maybe improve the cam IF some experience such issues but if you look after your tools, they will look after you!
Does one need to use EARTH / GROUND wire when spraying oil base paint? I plan to do a fair amount of oil based painting. The tricks you look very helpful. Thank you. Cheers from Texas USA.
Make's me laugh, decorator taking the piss over other people's work instead of finding his own niche making money retiring at 50 ,I did it's hard enough to site Paint as it is, good luck
If can get Toupret joint filler / powder or tub used then it cuts the grinning through to almost zero. White too Absolutely streets ahead of British Gypsum range
