This is a channel for anyone that wants to learn how to take care of an inground saltwater fiberglass pool. I am 2 years in to pool ownership and would like to share what I am learning along the way. Please share additional tips in the comment section. Happy swimming!
Do you know how to turn this pump back on after the last timer of the day have expired (basically override the preset timer)? There are times that I want to heat the pool overnight but timer shuts the system down and the display panel turns off entirely, so I'm not able to operate any of the pool mechanicals.
I don’t think it allows you to set up more than one schedule at a time. So you’d have to manually go in and change it each time you wanted to heat overnight. Best option would be to press one of the speed buttons on the left of the panel. Let that run all night and it should automatically switch to your normal schedule in the morning. Hope that helps!
Backwashing is only required for sand/DE filters (from my understanding). I have a cartridge filter, so I just clean or replace the filter. Check out my channel, Pool Care Share, for videos on how to do these (and other) pool maintenance tasks.
Please visit my channel or suscribe for more details on parts of this video such as the process for cleaning your cartridge filter and how the handheld vacuum works.
I turn the pool pump to off and I open the air pressure release valve. It’s not necessary, but you could also turn off the power to the pool pump at the main breaker while doing this. Just make sure the air pressure release valve is open when you turn it back on.
I have a cartridge filter and I usually clean it every month in the summer and every 2-3 months in the winter. How often you should backwash really depends on how much use your pool gets, if you use a skimmer sock and how much debris gets into your pool from trees, grass, etc.
Which model is that? Is that the 2603? That is what I just installed today and it is so quiet I’m not sure if I’m moving enough water. I have a Hayward sand filter so I don’t want to try and push to much through it since they can’t handle the amount of gal per minute as a cartridge filter. This is where I wish I had a flow meter. I’m on 1 1/2” piping on a 16x32 in ground and my pump is only 10 ft from the pool. Right now I’m using 2250, 1500 and 1100 for my 3 timers running 24hrs
145 is not too bad at all! My phosphates are constantly rising. Maybe related to the hose water I use to top off (even though I use an RV filter), the rain water or other factors.
Pool Pump Schedule May 2024 9-9:30am-3000 rpm 9:30am-8:30pm-2000 rpm 8:30pm-9pm-3000 rpm 9pm-9am-1200 rpm Trying a slightly different schedule for Summer 2024. Find what works best for your pool depending on size, amount of use, amount of debris getting in pool each day, etc. Would love to see what schedule others use. Please post your schedule in comments.
@@davekazda6028 What did you ever decide on? I have the same size pool and just started using this today: Spring / Summer (Mid-April - Mid-September) 8AM to 9AM (3000 rpm) - Timer 1 9AM to 7:30PM (2800 rpm) - Timer 2 7:30AM to 8PM (3200 rpm) - Timer 3 8PM to 8AM (2200 rpm) - Timer 4
Run it for a long time (up to 48 hours). If you let the granuals sit in the filter, they can slowly damage the filter. I would recommend putting the CYA into a pool sock and place that in your skimmer to prevent the granuals from causing harm to the pump (pump attemps to chop them up).
Did you have visible algae in the pool before you did the treatment and did you leave it in the pool so the treatment killed it? Then vaccumed it out once the algae was dead? 🙂
There was no visible algae. I took a water sample to the pool store for testing. You can buy a phosphate test kit to test at home. I waited 48 hours after the treatment before vacuuming using the handheld vacuum and cleaning the cartridge filter.
I have noticed that my skimmer suction is not strong enough and my pool is not as clean as it should be. What's your recommendation? I also have the Hayward pump setup.
I have a quick tip if you have a cartridge folder and you’ve algae in the pool but you don’t know algae into the cartridge filter can buy a cheap above ground pool pump and can vacuum the pool with that to waste
Hey guys! Just a follow up to my video here. You do not need to unplug your salt cell. You can just turn the salt cell to the off position. Much easier.
Thank you for the short and to the points video. I changed my pool setting to low temperature setting and the video that I was following said to select the positive sign to save the changes. I couldn’t figure out why all of a sudden my pool is running nonstop your video explained that! Now I know don’t select the +change reset button! Now I have to go and reprogram my entire pool pump! Not sure what other videos you have but I definitely will be checking them out!

After I checked my cell & put it back together, it also leaked. I tightened them one at a time and ensured the pipes were lined up before tightening. Your videos have helped me out a ton.
