Excellent review! I'm thinking of purchasing a C Line Electric, and this is the best review I've found. You've covered everything I was wondering about, and even a few things I hadn't considered. I particularly liked your observation about how the power assist comes on (abruptly). This will be my first Brompton, and I'd been wondering if I should just go with the standard version. I'm still on the fence, but at the very least feel better informed thanks to your thorough review.
This from the official rule on www.audax.uk/about-audax/classifications/ Brevet Randonneur (BR) Brevets de Randonneur (BR) events can be any distance over 200km and are validated only by Audax UK. The maximum time allowed is based on the actual distance of the event and a minimum speed set by the organiser using the following guidelines: 200 to 600 km - 14.3 kph - 15 kph 700 to 1200 km - 13⅓ kph 1300 to 1800 km - 12 kph 1900 to 2400 km - 10 kph 2500 km and over - 8⅓ kph The maximum speed limit is usually 30 kph Our route if I remember correctly was officially 614km. So 614/14.3 We had the time confirmed before and validated after, it's recorded on the Audax website. That's all I can really say as it was a long time ago now.
Was curious about the lock you used on your Brompton electric I haven’t seen one like it seems to fit really well on the small electric bag. If you get a chance, could you reply with the brand & style? Really enjoy your videos and looking to buy a Brompton electric later this year.
The lock in the video is a litelock. I don't use it for leaving the bike, only for times I have to briefly leave it out of sight (going to the) or for the train when I put it on the luggage rack.
@@OneLessCarClosed 🙏 Amazing videos btw and per usual amazing answer with great advice on how best use the lock! Hope all is well with you, have learned so much from your work. I adore your B roll such lovely shots of cycling around English towns and lovely homes. Hope to fly there w/a brompton one day and do the same. About to buy my first Brompton , an electric version.
Hi, could you confirm if this nash bag will fit the P line roller frame? There seems to be some doubt, but I think this could be associated with the larger version.
An easy DIY for anyone/everyone is add FlatOut sealant to any Schrader valve bicycle inner tube. Has worked well on two of my bikes. There are solid testimonial videos on RU-vid as well. Happy riding everyone ☮️💜
Hello that looks like a nice bag are you still using it? If so how has it held up? I've been interested in purchasing one of Vincita's products for a while their: Expanding Front Carrier rack but unfortunately it's one of their products which dosen't appear to be available for order within the UK. Meaning I would have to purchase it directly from Vincita's website which would mean the order would be subject to additional import costs. I would really like the product for my bike but without knowing how much extra I would be expected to pay it's hard to commit to making the purchase.
I honestly have no idea what tyres my 2019 SuperlightM6LXBrompton came with? I have never used it enough to have to change any, though I have had my fun making it even lighter than original, at present close to an original T-line, but for much less money and with more gears!
Yea for you, your partner and all of the other folks that did that ride! I am looking into the Randonneur type of bicycle riding. It looks great and the distances are pretty spectacular. Sub'd ;<)) Congratulations of getting your 400km badge, very cool.
In training we were up to about 265-270km if I recall. At this distance on a mostly flat ride it's about getting as much time in the saddle as possible to condition your body.
Just ordered a set of the EZ Clamps from eBay for my "winter Brompton" (I already had a set on my other Brompton) and your sticker was in the envelope, I was intrigued so Googled it and found this 🙂Thanks again! More videos about Bromptons are always welcome!
Hi, the original inventor of the EZ clamp spring is Steve Wood. It would be great if people would support the inventor by purchasing from his website rather than a copy. Unfortunately, I think that YT will strike my comment if I link the site, but Google EZ clamp spring. I just bought 2 for <£8
I did a 400k last year out of Manningtree, probably also organised by ACME, I found that just riding the whole thing with no sleep worked for me, just regular stops......but that part of the UK is pretty flat so not too challenging in that regard !
I think I'd skip sleeping if I did a 400km again and just make sure to have a really good fuel stop before dark. However 300km will likely be my future limit.
06:50 That’s what the bike box is for, to put you ahead of traffic in the middle of the lane you want to be in, making you visible to all motorised vehicles and less likely to suffer from lazy impatient idiots making thoughtless and risky moves with your safety not remotely paramount, just because they left late for whatever destination they’ve chosen to drive to
what are you hanging the charger off of? i like that extension on the back of the seat but can't figure out what it is (and can't find the video where you mentioned it)
@one-less-car, I just got the OLight RN400 light and I love it, but it uses a Garmin mount and I would love to use your Garmin mount on the handlebar like you, but I can't seem to find any. And your links are dead, I'm afraid! Thanks for a great video.
Having lights available without thinking about them on the Brompton is killer ( in a very good way) It is so much hassle having to sort your lights out. I am a big fan of the E Brompton as it suits my commuting needs but I am painfully aware of its limitations which is why I am keen to try companies like ARCC who seem to be innovating. I love the feel of an E bike especially when I don't have the schedule to attain suffering or grovelling in the gutter but I do like to suffer on the bike.
Motorcycle racer ( retired) told me that he used to get better grip when he installed his tyre against the cited rotational direction. That was the 1970s when you raced with experience intuition and instinct. And a healthy dose of placebo.
Nice video and scenery. While using your Olight, which setting did you use and what means of charging was used? or did you carry spare batteries? Thanks!
