Unity allows you to make HQ game. You can make banana's game with unity engine.. I'm pretty sure that it's a capable developer who makes a good game. In mobile, unity engine is the best to make adware game like voodoo did.
Godot is the Linux of game engines. Sure it may lack some features but overtime it will get popular & popular until it's as good if not better than the competation
This video was really helpful for me! Could you make more videos about Unity plugins? Sometimes I buy plugins and don’t really know how they work, so I’m hesitant to spend money on them. I've had a few instances where I bought plugins that I never ended up using because they weren’t well-made and needed a lot of changes. But I trust your content.
Wow i was searching for a tutorial like that on doing AI+Photoshop assets because I'm struggling with that, you gave me inspiration to keep using my MJ subscription. I wonder if AI's also good to make frame by frame anims, but I swear it's best for tweening and skeletal. Thanks for the video, you nailed it! 😁 (And btw, I preferred the real Rocks for the rocks 🥊🗿🥊)
The problem is that Unity is failing, they fired 1800 employees and it's no longer a reliable company. I'm a Unity asset store developer, if I open a ticket I have to wait months to get a response. I have to wait weeks before I can publish on the asset store and I'm still waiting for a lot of money they say they sent me but I have never received (I cannot reach them to discuss this issue because they do not respond).
Basically Unity is run by unreliable and untrustworthy people. It would've been better if Unity simply was abandoned and stayed the same for years without updates. Like Microsoft FNA, it's old from 2003, but people still use it because it's reliable and battle tested.
Unity is awesome and all the hate was mainly because "the CEO said once he would charge 1$ per recharge on FPS games", wich is a complete lie to begin with, and because in the bad quality games made with Unity the logo appears at the beginning and they blame Unity for the quality of those games while in others like UE or Godot it doesn't appear and they don't blame the engine for scams like The Day Before or crappy games. In short, the hate for Unity is caused by extreme human stupidity.
I love how well Godot integrates with my ecosystem, Linux Unity has been on and off for the last 10 years with support. Godot is the kind of company, if I made any profit, I would be inclined to sponsor/donate in good will, Not corporate greed. Being a server maintainer &/ ISP, I do wish Godot had better ways of making server applications to integrate with a game, unity has a few.
Remember, Blender was also made fun of for how bad it was compared to other paid software. Now, it is basically an industry standard. Those of us who use Godot are the ones funding and helping its growth into something that could be truly remarkable. The point is: Although Godot is currently inferior to Unity, it is the engine with the most potential for growth, while Unity is just making dumb mistakes and people who uses are not feeling it will get so much better. I believe that in the not-so-distant future, the main game engines will be Godot (for indie games in general, such as 2D games and lightweight 3D games) and Unreal for truly AAA games. We should praise Godot users and developers for maintaining a software that serves as a soft spot when engine companies make anti-consumer decisions. Having FOSS software as an alternative is always a healthy thing.
All Oscar winning movies since 1990 have used autodesk Maya (if applicable ), how does that make blender and industry standard. That and about all major companies use Maya, never heard a big studio using blender till now lol.
"Inferior" is very relative. For example, in 2D I find Godot superior to Unity. I can run scenes almost instantly and have none of that strange positioning issues that are caused by Unity's 2D being actually 3D with locked Z axis. Unity had me struggling with implementing basic features like singletons, which Godot supports out of the box.
@@Korn1holio I think, he was comparing the 2 more generally. Godot is great for 2D, I agree, but unity overall would definitely be a way better choice for a large project( since you would definitely find more resources )
Say it all studios that has created their games using Unity. More than half of mobile market are Unity games. I would be happy switch to Godot and rely on open-source instead. But only when game engine could cover my development needs. Currently, it’s not. Later - maybe
@@taphubgames I would gladly tell them 😅 Corporations will turn on their customers sooner or later. Unity has revealed that it will do this by making their customer pay runtime installation fees. Food for thought
@@pistrie8198 corporation can do this until they have no competition. I believe that fast development of Godot will be beneficial for Unity devs too. Risks that developers migrate to Godot won’t allow Unity to be as aggressive as before. You completely right. But for my work Godot is ready yet.
@@VicoSotto. Godot doesn't suck though, unity has been here longer and has had more users and so many tutorials that make learning easier. Unity is definately currently better imo for 3d games. But for anyone making 2D games I highly recommend godot over unity because 1 it needs funding and 2 it has incredible potential, plus 2D projects are very trivial in godot so theres not as much advantage using unity for 2D. May as well support godot to help improve the gaming scene
I don’t think you can create a game within Godot as fast as within the Unity. I don’t think that you can achieve the same quality of 3D rendering. I don’t think that sevices and tools support Godot as much as Unity. Analytics, Advertising, Remote Configs, multiplayer solutions. Understand me correctly, I really want Godot to grow and probably switch to it some day. But I will do it only when Godot pair with Unity. Now its not.
i think switching mid project does not make sense, espacially in 3d , godot 3d is just becoming better and better , but it is till very fresh, but i think if you start new with game dev , godot would be the right decision
Depends on your goals, if you creating for fun - then yes. But if you want to build a business or receive a job - then I would still recommend starting from Unity
@@taphubgames idk, the growth of popular FOSS sotware are always very stable. Most of whom alreadly work with Unity are not switching anyways, but people who are becoming gamedevs just now are starting either with Godot or Unreal. I think that Godot can really be industry stardad in a not so distant future, like Blender. Companies pays to use Unity, then if a open source engine reaches the same level as Unity, why would companies still use it? I think we need to think in long term here
