1919 Homesteaders. It was about a man who left his black wife for the woman he loved in the Dakota region. It's a lost film. It premiered in Chicago. Why is that never mentioned?
At a time when things were far worse for ADOS people, Micheaux was able to make movies, so when you see today's minstrels complain or keep playing Stepin Fetchit roles, you know the problem isn't racism but ADOS people and the entertainers themselves.
Guys is this thee DONALD BYRD...??as in the gentleman that trumpets the trumpet in that highly charged and melancholic HOUSE OF THE RISING SUN tune...??😳😳...this man had a PhD in Music...???
Great interview! Unfortunately what they do not touch on is that the American form of capitalism makes profit maximization and shareholder value the only sacred cows. Lowering labor costs and eliminating labor protections via illegal immigrant labor (from countries they are pillaging for the resources) is fundamental to this system. Until you address predatory racist CAPITALISM we’re running in circles. Nothing will change.
Amnesty for illegals and the phrase "people of color" severely hurts black people. Lumping all non whites into a category called "people of color" assumes that we all are united vs. whites and all have the same interests and concerns. It gives the government and private sector companies an excuse not to respond to each individual ethic group's concerns.
Ronald Reagan DID NOT care about African Americans smh. He was a politician who only did what was politically expedient and made sense come time to file through the polls in November 🤷🏾♂️
Almost a year and no comments in this precious and informative interview with the great Dr. Byrd… I’ll be the first. Thank you for uploading this clip. For all his gargantuan accomplishments in music and in education, there remains precious little documentation of Dr. Byrd on RU-vid. This is a great thing you’ve done by uploading this. Thank you Tony.
Here's comment from me...I LOVE ME some DONALD BYRD, I am 44 yr old male down in South Africa 🇿🇦, 10 years ago,my best friend introduced me to DONALD BYRD'S UP album, the very first time I heard HOUSE OF RISING SUN I never looked back, that's the album that transitioned me from hip hop, noisy music to the soothing sounds of Jazz and I've never looked back...I didn't know anything about D-BYRD, particularly his erudition, but after seeing this video my respect for him shot through the roof...I'm going down the rabbit hole and going to learn more about him coz I just love the man.👊🏿✌🏿🇿🇦
Good video! I like J.A. Rogers books so much that I wrote the sequel to his book: From Superman to Man. My book is called From Man To Superman: Dr. John Henrik Clarke vs. Herman Cain (by Maurice Miles Martinez). It is an Introduction to African Studies, cites more than 200 sources, and is also in the setting of a novel. J. A. Rogers’ book From Superman to Man is one of the best books written on the topic of race. Rogers utilizes a discussion between a very knowledgeable African American porter and a Racist senator to explore a number of academic arguments about race. This book should be required reading in every school. My book: From Man to Superman: Dr. John Henrik Clarke vs. Herman Cain discusses historical and modern racism such as the New Jim Crow, but also focus upon the pre-colonial accomplishments of Africans in the fields of science, medicine, mathematics, engineering and philosophy. If you enjoyed the movie Black Panther, then you will definitely like my books as I’ve expanded this historical analysis into my book: The Great Wall of Africa: The Empire of Benin’s 10,000 Mile Long Wall and my book: The Real Vibranium of Africa by Maurice Miles Martinez. Definitely purchase a copy of J.A. Rogers book. It is worth the read.
