That's a great question. If there is an injury that is an easy one. Alternatively, if the D is playing well. he may not see much action until next season.
A comment was made about going all in on a player emptying our prospect pool and we actually did it once before for Vinnie Trochek. In 2020 we traded Erik Haula, Lucas Wallmark, Eetu Luostarinen, and Chase Priskie. Eetu just got his first cup as he still is with Florida from the trade. I like this approach as it allows Carolina to thin the prospect pool and increase the team's strength. Trochek did play 2 more seasons with the Canes, but it did hurt when we couldn't sign him at the end of his contract.
Hey, Jason Appreciate your comments. I agree. The Trocheck move made a lot of sense & he was a strong contributor while he was with the Canes. Canes are in an strong position to do more of that going forward because they have a full cupboard of quality prospects. In fact, they will be able to trade some of those prospects without concern because they have so many. And, Canes are going to be in a enviable CAP position after this year, making it easier to go for the big fish at the deadline.
Hey Tom! This is Tyler (from the days of Sangoma). Just wanted to say, I really like what you’re doing with the channel and I’m excited to see it keep growing!
Hey, Tyler Great to hear from you! Really appreciate the positive words. It's great fun talking Canes hockey and connecting with Caniacs & hockey fans around the world.
Hey, Stephen Thanks for the comment & positive words. Totally agree on the need for additional scoring. Laine would be a good choice if they can make the deal work. Not sure I'm ready to give up on KK just yet.
Interesting thought. Kadri would be an upgrade over KK at this point, for sure. Only problem is that Kadri's $7.0M deal runs until 28/29 & probably wouldn't age well. I would prefer the Canes add a younger center than Kadri if they plan to upgrade at 2C.
I just found this show and I subscribed and I'm a big Hurricane's fan and I'm from Manitoba Canada and I like your 2 guests and they both like hockey and are knowledgeable about the hurricane's 😎
Tulsky's offseason is a D-. Canes front office and owner are a rudderless ship. If you want a team that's only goal is selling regular season tickets before tanking in the playoffs every Spring then the Canes are your cup of tea.
@CarbonMonoxideBag Even more so when the teams top six is primarily comprised of under-sized, non-physical forwards who wilt whenever the NHL's postseason intensity amps up. Meanwhile their coach clings to bottom six, dump & chase grinders on their last legs like Staal, Martinook, Carrier, & Burns and spent netminders with a long history of playoff failure like Freddie Andersen. And how's that $45m investment in Jesperi Kotkaniemi working out? And oh btw RBA is not a NHL coach that any playoff savvy veteran wants to play for as his system burns players out by the time April & the real hockey games roll around. His postseason track record is nothing short of abysmal & this will likely be his final season behind the bench in Raleigh. Peter Laviolette ran circles around him in the Ranger series last Spring so get over it.
ZAR is the only one with any real shot but I hope the prospects get the fair shot instead , Dronov was someone who we should have found room for last year the guys a big physical moose .
You missed the Emerson kid we drafted who's going to NoDak with Perron and a blame who's really intriguing , And Massimo Rizzo at Denver who's really broken out .
How right you are, 3561. Should have included Emerson. Had a strong season in USHL last year and heading to North Dakota. Did discuss Jason Blake in the video. Rizzo was traded to the Flyers for rights to David Kase, so no longer a Canes prospect.
Terrific job with your content Tom and best of luck with your new youtube channel. Greatly appreciate your analysis which is spot on! I'm amazed that you can even pronounce some of the names correctly on this video along with the players you highlighted on your Southeast Rookie Showcase video. I'm hoping this is the Canes year!
