Hi, I'm The Dutch Guy! I really love to research the history of musical group The Doors. I also do research other subjects, Music and Non Music , mostly old newspaper articles and ads, Ask me if you are looking for one! www.thedutchguy.nl
Looking for a superb documentary that included animation about a renowned New York/LA agent that took on The Doors Jim Morrison & many other prominate music people & groups at the time that Jim Morrison OD'ed. This agent/manager was interviewed in his legendary tiny upstairs office~ desk & shelf lined walls full of books & files about "stars"... i cannot find that goddamed documentary or the agent/manager's name even! Help?
This is extraordinary. In my youth, I had assumed all these rock “stars” were drugged-out, alcoholics with nothing to say. In my old age (and theirs) nearly all these guys display a wisdom I never thought possible. I look at my poor parents who never travelled, never read poetry never protested anything…did not grow spiritually, intellectually or socially. These guys, with little exception…lived the equivalent of 3 lives. I loved listening to Krieger and Densmore. They had a LOT to say!
Thank you Anne. I bought & Love the book. You’re brother was certainly a one off and I always pop in to pay my respects when I’m over in Paris for the Marathon every April. . .
Jim being a dog lover is awesome. Dogs are my favorite animal. Sage was a good boy and is with Jim and Pam on the other side. Along with Jim's other dogs Stoner and Thor.🐶
@@TheDutchGuyCool. Didn't know that. My bad. Heard they were Jim's dogs. Thanks for the info. You are super knowledgeable about Jim/The Doors so I'll take your word for it.😃
I spent a night in a Paris precinct summer of 1971. An american gi on a weekend pass gave me a ride into Paris. After doing some sightseeing he suggested we check out a precinct to spend the night. We each got a cell. A cop (gendarm?) right out of the movie Casablanca made us coffee in the morning. Nice guy! After talking with him for a half hour we thanked him and left. I continued on to Spain, the gi went north.
Admiral Morrison was a great man who loved his son dearly. You can hear it in his words and especially see it in his eyes. You can tell he'd love to say to Jim "I'm proud of you son".
Thank you for this It brings a deeper and broader understanding to the "American Prayer" Album. The best Morrison Album by far. The epilogue was particularly insightful as to Jim's thinking as he entered, "The Hot Forest"
That would have freaked me out as a child. Remember that Jim was raised in Florida and West Virginia. You don't know what Mexicans look like. When you first see the Hispanics, you assume they are Native American. We stopped calling them Indians in the 90's i think. It is an insult. My great grandmother was a quarter native American. Could not call her an " Indian" though. She would have whooped your ass. She's a "native". My dad also hates Thanksgiving. Every damn Thanksgiving he tells the story of how the Native Americans were screwed over by the colonizers, took the land that was everbody's and claimed ownership. so "I'm here to eat but this is not our holiday." Thanks pops. 😂
I’d still call them Native Americans. My Hispanic friend took a DNA test and was over 70% native. That’s definitely passing as Native American. Especially compared to all my fellow white people who claim to be any random Native American tribe lol.
I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Ray Manzarek at the House of Blues in West Hollywood in 2003 in which I was the lucky recipient of tickets to see The Doors for an interview with Jim Ladd and KLOS. Ray was sitting at the bar drinking a Heineken and I waltzed over and sat down next to him and had a very memorable conversation with him. Very nice man. I was nervous. Maybe a little star struck. They played four songs. Ian Astbury sang. Stewart Copeland on drums. Really something special.
Saw this tour November 2011 at House of Blues Houston. Crowd was in a frenzy. Band was feeding off crowd and vice versa. One of the best concerts ive ever seen, and ive seen a lot. RIP Ray.
