I picked up a silver to black fade Al Comp three weeks ago for $81. The tires were muddy and the rear was flat, a little mud splatter on the frame but no damage. The guy working said they found it in the store like that. They guessed someone took it out back of the store for a test ride and brought it back in dirty. I figured for $81 for a new frame I couldn't ho wrong.
On that boundary I would almost venture to think that the assembly company got a severely damaged vibe and the boundary was returned with some messed up wheels and they swapped the wheels. The brake cable is completely unacceptable. The label on the handle bar is one of the labels that the online shoppers use, the but the rest of the store uses them for tape.
Hoping for a speedy recovery, wolfman. Great to see everybody having fun in that new trail system. Looks 👍. Caveat: when wolfman sees the video, he'll likely be correcting you about the e-rosion 😉 ( soil erodes, metal corrodes).
Looks great, can't wait to get one. Terrific video. The seat post seems like an oversight, but as you say it was most likely curved to accommodate larger wheels and tires. I don't use a dropper so it doesn't bother me. This is a fantastic deal, really nice looking bike.
A lil late to the party here, but try some mt200 calipers with slx/xt/Deore levers & you will be really impressed. As you say the stock levers are soft but trust me when I say change to some decent levers & theyre as good as my Sram guide R's easily
I never understood the gravel bike thing until I started wanting, and needing, to take my road bike more places. I maxed out the tire width on it and it's just as capable as a gravel bike. I started riding more dirt roads, gravel roads and even some single track with it. I found one of these G1 Explorers for $100 and bought my dad one. I wished they had them in my size, as I really enjoy budget upgrading bikes. It seemed to ride really well, shifted well and it just looks great. I upgraded the saddle and pedals for him, and would definitely replace the bar tape with some nicer stuff with some gel pads under the tape. If you really enjoy riding this, you will want to air those tires down to make it WAY more stable and cushier. This is not a mountain bike, the bars are supposed to be narrow, it's a whole different way to ride. anyway... i sure you have ton of other wheels sitting around your shop... i would pop some wheels on that use a cassette, go tubeless, use a lower tire pressure offroad (its nice and cushy!)...and then the ultimate upgrade, go cheap ali express GRX 2x10 groupset, set the front derailleur aside, add a NW chainring, and you got a really nice ride. (I did this on my road bike). The whole instability you have... you just need to get the bike setup for yourself. A bike fit is HUGE for road bikes (which this essentially is), and makes a big difference. Your speed at 10mph is about right for this type of riding, it's not going to be fast, you aren't going to be bombing down dirt roads (it's slick!). It's a good time! I love the fact that I can take my road bike on long distance rides and cut through lots of dirt and gravel roads at the same time. You don't want wider bars, they SHOULD be about the same width of your shoulders, this isn't a mountain bike. I am not as familiar with the LTWOO shifters, but many brands and models have a reach adjustment screw that may let you adjust your brake levers closer to the hoods (if your hands are smaller). A lot of your riding position is forward, and you're not going to be lifting your head up a ton, look ahead with your eyes. Something you may want to do is .... borrow/rent a higher end road bike or gravel bike for a day and go ride something, you will see how nice it rides vs the ozark trail stock bike. It will give you ideas what you can upgrade to. I've turned my cheap used road bike into a really nice gravel bike on a budget :) I can still fly fast on the road, but it has the tires, gearing and brakes for offroad too when needed (and of course makes it that much nicer on the road too).
This looks like the Mongoose Grit gravel bike. It seems to be the same frame and forks, with the odd upper tube jump, internal routing and multiple mounting points. The Grit is $378 at Walmart, though.
Let me interject here if you please, at 5' 6" you can get away with both because if you find her big, you can always reduce the size of the stem and if you find her small , you can always install a longer stem however if you have long limbs, I'd go for the medium and if you have a long torso, I'd go for the small. I'm 5' 8" and I ride a 2022 Giant Trance X in 27.5", medium size and I had to replace the stem for the 75 mm so I could feel comfortable on the bike. I hope I had helped you, sir.
The have an Able RBL sport that has an microshift advent 9 speed, hydraulic brakes, xcm30 fork and available in small for $285 right now from mendham bikes… would be cool to see an updated review on this bike at that price point
Hey how does the ixf cranks work with a 10 speed drivetrains are they great or no I have a 10 speed and am thinking of grabbing them for my gt aggressor we make pros lol 🎉
Vibration dampening. It would be interesting to hear a 'ding' on different frames with a spoon or whatever, to hear how sound travels thru different frame metals. That would give you an idea of vibration dampening.
I got a Stanton slackline steel ( their Taiwanese version) and it feels great. But the Santa Cruz chameleon MX and RSD Middlechild are both aluminum and they are very comfy too! So maybe a good bike is just a good bike no matter what it is made of.
I still ride my old gt steel frames my go to when I bop around the streets. I just gotta video it I love a steel frame but at times the aluminum is lighter but flex more so.
Is himalo and pasak the same brand? I bought a himalo dual crown; received a box branded pasak; fork has no decals; does work great for the cheap price; no complaints. Now I was looking for chinese full squish frames; same thing; himalo frames are branded pasak or fastwork; wth?
