Many people think that Angel Falls got its name because (a) it is so high it seemingly falls from heaven, or (b) the white mist formed at its base resembles an angel’s robe. But in fact neither of these facts, although certainly true, is the reason for the name. It is named after 20th century American bush pilot and explorer Jimmie Angel, a kind of a real-life Indiana Jones, who was the first person to fly over the falls in an airplane!!

This might not seem a big deal in these days of drones, but they shot this with a camera hanging off a Bell 206… Consequently this remains one of my favourite aerials of all time.
