Good to see you too Miguel. I've been enjoying your 'bass line' shorts. Lots of great playing there. I wonder if the weather is a reaction to the recent election results in parts of Germany 😢.... Probably not. Thanks for the visit and the kind words.
I must listen again with a bit of distance between me and the sounds. It's an interesting thought though. I saw John Mayall's band with Mick Taylor back in 1969 and I remember thinking that the guitar sounded exactly like a saxophone (Les Paul through a Marshal). Thanks so much for the visit and the comment. I really appreciate it.
@@PaulMcCaffreyfmac yes I was listening through good quality ear buds with good bass but not watching the screen (so my eyes were not involved). I was going to say also a saxophonish sound as well as trumpet.
Thanks so much. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I don't know where you are but here in West London it looks like it could start raining literally any second - a good excuse to not go to Sainsburys 😂
You're not kidding when you say it's LOUD! I saw you click it on at around 2:57 in to the video! But it sounded very good to my ears. I didn't hear too much "jumpiness" or audio drops at all! If anything, it clearly demonstrates your dynamic playing. Loved it, my friend!
Good to see you Dan and thank you very much. Quick work getting here today. I have no real conception of what the time is anywhere in the outside world(😂) but I'm always glad to see you. I hope you're well or getting well or even better than that. The pedal is great but I did feel I had to keep a lid on it a bit. The output level control was on the equivalent of about '1' but thankfully it does respond well to pick attack. It's fun anyway and that's the main thing 😊
I'm so sorry. First comment got the first reply but youtube decided it wasn't worth uploading or some such nonsense. I hope it's not too late to say 'bon voyage'... In any case thanks again 😊
Thanks. Yeah! That's a side-effect of using the camera mic, which is all I have and what I always use. It would have to be headphones to hear every word I guess.
Hey Doc! The man with green fingers. Nice to se you. Jerry Garcia is not a player I grew up with but I know he is much loved so I thank you for the compliment 😊
The Squier Esquire is completely stock. I have a Squier Thinline Tele as well which is stock apart from the neck pickup which for some reason was awful so I changed it for a Twisted Tele which works fine. I certainly have too many guitars but I'm interested that your impression is that it's high-end stuff. My old Strat was bought in 1969 and lots of stuff has been changed so that's far from a collectors piece. The only Custom Shop guitar I own (from Gibson or Fender) is the Strat I bought in 2001 when I was made redundant. It's in the last video or the one before that. Fender-wise I'm very partial to Fender Mexico made guitars and the Hendrix Strat is a good guitar by any standards. I suppose the guitars I have that fit most easily into the high-end category might be the National Duolian Polychrome and a Yairi NY0021, both bought second hand. Sorry! I think I might've got a bit defensive there and gone on a bit 😄 I do appreciate your visit and your comment and if you are thinking of a Squier Esquire, the only bad thing I can say about Squier as a brand is that they vary in weight more than Fenders so try before you buy if you can. Cheers.
@@PaulMcCaffreyfmac Hehe, for some reason I thought you had more Custom Shop stuff. My mistake!🤷♂️ I have a 40th Anniversary Squier Strat that I bought a year or two ago. It’s become my main couch guitar. I love it. It’s also stock, but the high E tuner is a bit wonky. I might have to replace them. Anyway, keep playing! Didn’t mean to make you defensive. Have a good evening.👊
When Squier are good they're very very good. Every home should have one 😊 "Defensive" relates to a lifetime's defending guitar buying and is my default rather than your fault. Please don't worry about it.
Thank you Joseph - always so kind. Thanks also for actually listening to the end. Most people don't. I think the words were mainly to make me happier 🙂. I try to remind myself that most people are good, like you and my other friends here. The bad ones make the most noise I think.
Had to look up " Steely Dannish" - so it is a cover band. You sound good. Just saw an interview of Tommy Emmanuel asked how it is to be an aging guitarist. But I guess the interviewer was not that much younger than TE. Have a interesting and joyfull sunday, Paul. Frank
Hello Frank. Steely Danny and Steely Dannish were my joke. I just thought the last couple of chords in the loop sounded a bit Steely Dan-like. I had no idea Steely Danish (sic) were a cover band. I had never heard of them 🙂
Thanks Janet. A bit of a cheeky title from me seeing that it is only really the last couple of chords in the loop that sound even vaguely like Steely Dan. Once I got it in my head I couldn't let it go though 😊
The first and biggest problem is the strings for that guitar. You can't find them in every musical instrument store. and you don't have as many choices as with a classic electric guitars.
It's not like a Steinberger and doesn't need double ball end strings so you can use what you want. Super heavy guages might be a problem but I use normal 10-46 and they are fine 🙂
They use normal strings. I play this guitar 10x more than any of my others. Just right neck profile, absurdly light/comfortable, lot of tonal options. Kind of ruined me for guitars that are more than 5lbs.
Jerry Garcia is not a player I know much about but I know he is widely loved by many, so I will take that as a great compliment and say thanks very much .😊
You got a lot visitors from almost every part of the world. US-Americans, Canadians, Australians etc. are all native english speakers so do they react differently from non-english speaking countries? 🙂 Aside from grammatical errors etc.. Good music like always Frank
Hi Frank! Thank you. Probably 90% of comments are in English though some look like they have been through a translator first. Other than that, Spanish, French, Thai and some unidentifiable (by me) languages. Generally everyone reacts positively. I probably get 1 'dislike' in every 15 videos, but I don't get that many views so I doubt it means anything useful 😊
Merci mon ami. Actually I just spoke about you to my RU-vid Neatherland friend who came to see me in France for this weekend. We already met 5 years ago in France, and a year later at his place ( where we did Stairway to heaven...a song a dreamed to play with somebody). Anyway, as he did not know you I told him I'll introduce your channel to him. I know he will like it. I hope things will calm down in your country....
Thank you Joseph, for introducing me to your friend. Bad people always make more noise and cause more trouble but some bad people are in prison already and the police and government say that everyone responsible will be tracked down and punished. I feel so bad for the people who were attacked who have done nothing but come here to find a better life. The last government with stupid brexit and bad ministers have spent too long blaming 'foreigners' and the country is not the same as it was 2010. All we can do is be as good as we can and remember that there are nasty people everywhere, but more nice people.
Thanks for introducing me to your friend. Yes! Things have been horrible here but a lot of people have been caught and the government and police say they will catch everyone involved. I feel so sorry for the poor people who have come here looking for a better life only to find a lot of people whose minds have been poisoned by the last government. We must remember there are more good people than bad, it's just that the bad people make more trouble and more noise.
As I myself lived 30 years away from France I know ( a little) what it is to be a foreigner. I don't like to say too much about politics on RU-vid, but yes, Brexit was ( is) wrong, for you and for us. As you say, there are more good people than bad, so let's just concentrate on them.
Thank you very much indeed. I've just been enying your jealous face. I thought it was terrible dread at first and then the other two appeared and the jealousy reared its ugly head... from then on I went into a Scarfe-tinted '60s reverie. Lovely 😊
Wotcher! Yes, you're right. It is a 2000 Custom Shop '56 Stratocaster that I bought new in 2001 having just been made redundant by the company that I had worked for for 24 years. It was from before the whole 'master builder' demented relic thing started and I love it 😊
Americans have been reacting a lot here lately, it’s election time, hehe. Love it, Paul! A mellow and groovy sound to get us through these wild days here. :) Janet
Election time takes such a long time over there I'm surprised anyone can get up the enthusiasm to vote when the time comes... Mind you the upcoming election is ultra-important for the USA and the world so fingers crossed. Thanks for stopping by and for the kind words
