Hey! Where are you guys located? Saw you mentioned the northwoods. My wife and I just bough land in northern Wisconsin and have money down on a 21' Yurta yurt. Maybeee getting it up this fall still.
It was cool to see your Fisher wood stove at the end of the video. Fisher was my first wood stove, purchased in 1976 (or so), and of all the wood stoves I have owned/used since then, it was the one that I recall with the fondest memories. Simple, reliable, and well built. I have heated my home exclusively with wood for the last 18 years. I wish you all the best on your journey back to the land!
You guys are awesome I love your set up. I'm just sitting here so sad wanting to have a place of my own away from all of the noise and chaos of the matrix. So sick of barely getting by and being away from nature. You both are living my dream I really hope I can have a beautiful place like you have and have cats and dogs and chickens. Stay amazing I'm wishing you both the best. I have to get away from all these robotic people who are so asleep . We all need to get back to nature. This is not how humans are supposed to live just working watching TV and always struggling to just pay rent. Love what you guys are doing. Please send me some good luck and energy I really need it. Peace and love guys!
What kind of system do you use for the bathroom? What did you do about bathing or laundry. I’m always curious what set ups people have esp those who have snowy winters as we do in Canada.
For light I use solar lanterns with aa batteries which are rechargeable and are easy to charge up all year round … they have a lovely warm light good enough for winter..
Iam looking for about your products place lace me a massage.when I post this, I am looking for more information on this. Can find this or much run . How you all up together.
Love the progress you guys have made on the both the interior of the yurt and the outside. Wish you had done more video's of the progress. Would have been nice to have seen your build of the kitchen and the wood shed. Keep up the great work. Still inspiring.
Hey very informative things are getting very expensive these days. What do you like about living in the Yurt? How did this all come about ? And the preparations to do this? Is it very cost-effective? Your place looks so amazing and comfy. Thank you for the tour.
Hey Peter, We've lived in the yurt in multiple states, West Coast and Upper Midwest, and haven't had any rodent problems. The decking platform the yurt is built on is pretty air tight and insulated with foam. We keep food and trash sealed the best we can to decrease the interest of animals
Hey Alan, we purchased it from a commercial upholstery company. It came two inches thick, 3.5 ft wide, and in 40ft length rolls. It changed how the yurt holds heats dramatically!
Awesome! Is there any concern with critters or bears digging through the canvas when your not around? I think like on my land in NE Minnesota I see quite a few critters.
Yes, totally concerned. During the summer we tried to keep food sealed and air tight, and our trash stored in a separate shed. Winter we’re not so worried. What we’re really looking forward to is getting a dog to keep guard
@sam_zach Thanks! I wasn't sure if I was missing something - I had built a shed last year and while I was still building it a bear pawed at the corner and door (trail cam pic + paw prints). I've been keeping the bit of food I have in a airtight pelican footlocker style box which seems to have kept bear, rodents, and pine martin away so far. Best wishes, -Nate
Loved waking up to an update from you. Very cool to see how much you’ve adapted to improve the functionality and comfort. How cold is your average temperature throughout winter?
Thanks for the kind words! It gets very cold here, although this winter pretty mild. We regularly stay subzero, with periods dropping to -20 and -30f, with plenty of snow!
Hey Sue! We’re doing great. Outside temp this morning was -15f but we are nice and cozy in the yurt! We’re enjoying some more inside time and projects.
I really love the calm and thoughtful way of sharing your life here on youtube! Thanks so much for putting yourselves out there with your authentic way of living close to mother earth! <3
