Since a glider doesn't take off from the ground (with high speed), do you need the flaps too for a takeoff or only for breaking before a landing? Or is there another advantage of flaps in gliders?
What receiver are using and what channel do you have the flaps plugged into? I just bought a dx6 and I'm still trying to figure it out with the night walrus.
I often use the s603 6 channel recievers and they work well for me however they’re not spectrum branded, I plug the flaps into whichever channel is mapped to the long 3 position switch :)
@@RcAviation OK. Good to know... Thanks for the advice. I am printing currently an Edge 540 from 3DLabPrint. Using 240 deg C for PLA... Hope this is sufficient. This is my first attempt to print an r/c plane. I had a lot of difficulties to print thin walls. I probably printed each part 3 to 5 times!
I have printed this model and waiting for maiden flight, the HK para-foil motor recommendation is 3530 1400kv with a weight of around 2kgs but Tom Stanton seemed to use 2212 960kv ... What motor did you install ? Please post your maiden flight .
I used a ft radial motor from the flite test packs that run planes like the founders plane, sorry for the delay with the maiden, it was just before the couple of lockdowns that I had planned to get my Air to air shots with my quad but I couldn’t due to restrictions on numbers at the flying field, I will do my best to get it out ASAP when I can get back to the field with other members :)
Thanks for the vid. Do you have a file you can upload for the setup you have for this ? I have just finished building it today and it's my first model. Would be nice to have a starting point with the setup. (Sorry posted this twice but realised I wasn't on my main account to pick up your reply.)

David Faulkner Cheers, I followed the tips on the manual, I don’t think I could find a file to upload for it, make sure to check the directions of the control surfaces and flite test had a lot of good videos for first flights :)
@@RcAviation thanks for your quick reply. Just found that the model I was trying to config was not set up to have flaps (it didn't have flap setup within the menu) lol bit of a learning curve but slowly but surely getting there. Can't wait to get it up in the air.
MrDavestarr2001 Ah right , flite test is a great source of how to vids on the playlist section, any more questions don’t hesitate to drop another comment :)
And i also have another question: on some flitetest plane plans like i dont have a laser printer so i have to download the tiled version so can you tell me if the tiled A and the tiled B plans are supposed to join together or can i just download the tiled A plans and i could one plane from it
I will say clearly when i open the flitetest website and download plans on some planes it says tiled A and tiled B so do i have to download both of them to make 1 plane or just download one of them like only tiled A and i can complete the plane with that?
Hi, just wanted to say thanks for making this video. I'm thinking of getting this and learning to fly but don't have a clue when it comes to setting up the controls and stuff. Do you still have yours or have you moved on to bigger and better things now? Cheers
TheAndyMaan Glad you liked the vid, yeah I still fly mine :) it’s a great plane, it’s good to learn on too, if your looking to maybe build a plane to learn on flite test make a tiny trainer which is awesome as a first plane :)
Skynyrd FPV The front section did need them up the middle I don’t remember if the back did, sorry about the lateness of the flight video struggled to find good weather to put it together 👍
@@DanielKezar ah I understand :) I quite like the way it looks at the moment in the sun, I think if I decide to cover it in solar film I will give it a cool colour scheme :)
Awesome! I'm putting one together right now! Planning on doing the single engine version with the larger FT Radial "C Pack" sized motor. Any suggestions on prepping the nose for the single motor? It doesn't seem to be in the single motor video anywhere...
Hmm Yeah that seems strange that he didnt mention it, its been about 6 months since i built the single engine version but from what i remember its just cutting doewn the sides of the noseallowing you to pop throught the power pod, awesome that your building it :) Any more questions feel free to ask and il get back asap ;) Rc A
@@RcAviation yeah, it looked like it should be the same as some the other planes, like the Cub, but he didn't seem to mention it from the scanning around I did (someone in the comments mentioned the same thing). I just didn't want to mess anything up ;-) I was wondering, did you do the straight wing (like they show for the twin motor version) or the dihedral wing with the single motor? I'm curious if the straight wing is stable enough with only the single motor, or if I should go with dihedral. Thanks for the response!
@@kc8omg np :) I did the dihedral as well it was a trainer for my dad but I don't see a problem with a straight wing it won't self level but I would say it would be good at the aerobatic stuff :) maybe if you have some foam trace the bits and try both ;)
@@RcAviation Thanks! Good to know. Im fairly confident in my flying these days, so I think the flat wing would be fine, especially since the legacy is a high wing too, but I'm also chicken about crashing... Maybe I'll start with the dihedral wing and try out a straight one later. Thanks again!
Hi there. Thanks for the video. I know you posted it a while ago. How well does the walrus actually work as a glider? Can you thermal with it? Would using a smaller battery like an 1100MaH help it thermal better? Also, is it easy to put in a receiver that has stabilization? (Like a spektrum receiver with SAFE / AS3X) in the walrus? Is there room to mount one? Thanks in advance. Would love to see you make a flight review of the Walrus.
Hey :) Was thermaling it yesterday, works perfectly I reckon there would be room for safe with a couple of mods, I will be sure to make a flight review soon cheers fir the reminder :)
