Your WebSDR is the best as someone who's far away and still don't have equipment even if I have I can't hear the UK 2m cool conversations from here .. so thank you for the clean work .. as a servers and hosting guy your websdr is a state of the art .. the online feed back to give is to find a way to show the Audio + waterfall + DSP controllers showing in the same time I suggest to move the waterfall controllers from the tab to the main GUI maybe top side of the green tabs .. or maybe multiple tabs rows so we can show multiple stuff in the same time
Thank you for this video and it answers the question I was also pondering after my recent experimentation with both WebSDRs and now FT8. Question: What is the virtual audio cable to my computer and how do I establish one? Thank you again. UPDATE: Oh, I see the download now in the expanded Notes!
Hi, so virtual audio is a software based audio connection. If you Google it you can download it and set it up on your pc to allow virtual audio connections between applications
@@ianxbu5091 HI i have checked and tried on two laptops and still no audio i am aware of the changes to make it work properly on firefox J1 was working for a short time but both are silent never had problems before i know you have had your antennas down due to the weather is it best to email you direct ? very good site it
Hello I cannot add additional bands, otherwise my Raspberry Pi freezes and I have to restart it. The band is added, but every time I start listening, my Raspberry Pi freezes and stops. I am using an RTL-SDR V3 dongle
@@ianxbu5091 "I have the two default bands set up, and if I create a third one with the same configuration, for example, for VHF, the save is done with the same parameters. However, as soon as I start playback, the visual spectrum is greatly enlarged, I have sound for a fraction of a second, and then no more sound. I am forced to restart the Raspberry."
You did great work on the new interface! I am so glad to see operators setting up more efficient layouts, with tabs, a larger frequency display, better waterfall colors, etc.
For a newbie to SDR, What setup can you recommend? I'm a General class ham operator, but have just entered the world of SDR. I can afford more than a $30 dongle if there is something better. I've noticed airspy hf+ discovery gets good reviews. You seem very advanced, so your advice is appreciated. Thanks
Hi, so the sdrplay devices are pretty good. They can cover a good range I clouding HF and also include built in front end filtering. They cost around 100 pounds. Also the new rtlv4 dongle gets good reviews. Perhaps get a nooelec dongle to begin with then progress to the more expensive devices after
G’day Ian. I was going about a network SDR using much more complex methods and then i saw your video. This idea is perfect for my application. There is a crucial criteria though, will this plus version work with RTL-SDR V4 usb? Cheers Gerry
Thanks for these videos on customising OpenWebRx+ it has been useful to know where python/owrx stores its htdocs I have never done web dev with python before only FullStack with HTML/CSS/JS. In the openwebrx.css file the first reference to the webrx canvas sets the background via default css and the following two @support code blocks implement support for other browsers, whatever browser you are using results in the correct css support block being used for required css features. Changing all 5 references is the correct thing to do when looking to make this work across most browsers :) thanks again!
Hi Ian. Just installed the + version on a raspberry pi. How do I about getting this pi online so that it can be listened to remotely. What software is required etc , so like yours in can be heard on receiver book etc. thank you
Hi, you would need either a static IP address for your home network from your isp or use a dns service like no-ip. Then you need to set up port forwarding in your router to forward the openwebrx port (8073) to the Internet facing interface. Then users would enter your ddns name or public ip with the port number on the end into their browser and it should work
Hi I tried to upgrade to the plus version like you say In video but once done I load web browser and it's not the plus version ist the non plus version still. I am using Ubuntu as my os. Thank you
I was using this earlier today on 6/8/23 but could only pick up one side of the communications. Do you have any idea why, and is there a way to fine-tune the conversation
To fine tune, try clicking the filter tab then selecting a narrower filter, this sometimes helps on weak signals. Also there is a enhancement button on the dsp tab
inpossible to get working websdr package from pa3fwm he is just not sharing it so easy anymore :( i have multiple sdrplay to play with.. is there not a simulair alternative (not opwebrx) ?
Ian. Going back to this, you entered the locator but would the locator not come up when entering the call-sign and then be replicate within the rotator widget? I understand that qrz xml data may be incorrect but I'm interested in whether entering the call-sign would input the registered locator heading into the rotator widget?
Hello IanXBU, I tried to follow your instruction but stuck at very beginning: password for ssh. It looks like the password no longer raspberry for OpenWebRX 1.2.1. Could you double check? Thank you.
I dont think i covered SSH access here. Just how to create your own admin account for the openwebrx software. The default Pi user doesnt exist so you may need to create one. See here for more info: github.com/jketterl/openwebrx/wiki/Setup-Guide#raspberry-pi-sd-card-images
I have Retlux RSL232 70W big floodlight and expensives when bought. It flickering sometimes at random interval until gone. Every LEDs have dot or brown mark, no voltage to them. I bought pair of 30W LED floodlight to replacement and this still waiting to repair or rebuild.
Hi,you can simply type in their callsign and the software will do a qrz search on them, however this relies on the person having the correct details in qrz.
@@ianxbu5091 Thanks Ian. I have that in Minos but its a shame to have to click the QRZ button to search. It's a shame the XML QRZ search doesn't auto trigger once the call sign is in and we tab to the Rs/Tx box. So much software and feeds available but it seems fragmented in final application. I may see if a macro can be set up for the QRZ search. Thanks for the video.
Your voice in this video is very low and I need to set the volume to extremely high and still get a low volume if your voice in the video. Please record the voice in a higher volume to a higher level in your futue video.
Great stuff, not used it in a while, Gona go check it out! 😎👍❤️ Always the way, I go on and check CB and it's dead no one on, heard a few people. Still really appreciate the work involved in this! Thanks a lot👍
Hi and thanks for your video’s I have a question I have being trying at home using a raspi4 sdr play alls good till the ssh pi@192.168. Etc.. prints a password and pi and raspberry won’t work any idea’s regards les m0ljh
EDIT: Solition: Using the raspberry pi installer, you have to set up wifi and all the other credentials for logging into the pi. i have the same issue. Did you ever figure it out?
Hello Ian thank you for this great video. I just paid for my PSTRotator version while I wait for my new Yaesu G-450ADC to arrive, so basically the same setup. I had been thinking to buy the ERC USB for the rotator control, but I see there a few options and I want find the best solution, not really fan to soldering and rewiring a new piece (the rotor control). So will like to know your thoughts on that and how the whole systems had and it is running ? Thanks 73 de Juan TG9AJR
Hi Juan. Yes I would go for it. Take your time then once it is done it opens up lots of options for pc control. I did a more detailed write up here on how to add the ERC board: www.g0xbu.co.uk/projects/adding-an-erc-rotor-control-to-a-yaesu-g450-controller
