We're travel-loving Kiwis in our 50's. Not old enough for the rest home but too young for the rest home but too old to backpack. We're out and about and staying active as much as we can, while we still can. In 2017, we left our jobsc sold our house and nearly all our possessions. We spent 2 years house/pet sitting around Asia and parts of Europe. We then brought a caravan and lived full time on the road, exploring NZ, and worked for 9 months so we can pack our backpacks at get back out there. Living life a KM at a time. Hey Em, you need to be very careful during winter. We wouldn’t attempt it during heavy snow fall. The Old Man Range has claimed some vehicles during heavy snow. Google vehicle rescue Old Man Range and you will get to see what it is like during the winter months. The shorter track up to the Obelisk wouldn’t be quite so tricky.

I went there with my Son in April, I last went there about 1983 so I had forgotten what was in there, The road coming in is hard to drive on, Very little room for a car to move over, But some interesting History in there
