Yo, it's wild that Assassin's Creed might feature Yasuke, the African samurai. But seriously, are they gonna do him justice or just make him some exotic gimmick? Yasuke's story is more than just being a cool warrior; it's about major culture clashes and dealing with racism. I agree with you my boi, Yasuke is an interesting figure and if Oda Nobunaga wasn't killed in 1582, Yasuke probably would have been a Lord. I do hope that Ubisoft gives him the justice that he deserves, for many of the Japanese today still look at him with admiration and respect just like the other warriors and warlords of the Sengoku Period. There are no contemporary sources saying he was a samurai (and they would have mentioned it cause contemporary sources can't shut up about Adams gaining the title as an outsider) or even fought (since he was a sword bearer). He also didn't die with Nobunaga, he was sadly sent back to the Jesuits after Nobunaga's death, probably into slavery. But the romanticised story is so much more famous and definitely cooler than the real history so I would like to see him as a samurai in AC: Red and be a quest giver to the player. AC isn't a history lesson anyway, it can take some creative liberties to have more interesting characters. I wonder what time period they will cover and if Tokugawa's rise to shogun will be included. It would be VERY interesting if Tokugawa in the game also constantly switches sides like the real one. That could be an interesting dynamic. And last but not least, seeing the ikko-ikki would be a treat as well.
Some people say that he was a samurai, some say he wasn't. I'm not gonna lie I'm a part of the people who believe he was a samurai, based on what I read and other videos from other RU-vidrs that specializes in history like; Kings and Generals, Metatron, and The Shogunate. So I'm not going to discourage anyone else's research or opinion but that's what I feel. And with assassins creed, I just hope they do justice to his story and get it right, unlike a certain anime. I'm looking at you, Netflix. And I also want to see the Ikko Ikki in this game as well, because they are some crazy ass mf'ers and I rarely see them in any other form of media besides the Nobunaga's Ambition series, nioh 2, the old Gekokujo mod for Mount and Blade warband, and that crappy ass Netflix show Age of samurai: battle for Japan. @@razi-gamez8120 I'm not familiar with Kings and Generals but I'll check out their Yasuke video. I remember the Metatron video but I'm pretty sure he also said there was no contemporary source that ever called him a samurai. I know the Shogunate so I'll check out theirs as well. I don't know most of these games but I thought I saw a Sengoku Jidai mod is in development for bannerlord. EDIT: I see the Shogunate one is based on a novel by Thomas Lockley, who admitted in an interview he barely had any material to work with. And he didn't collect any material on his own, it was handed to him. Like only 13 sentences of source material. And he was asked to create a narrative novel. And somehow he managed to turn 13 sentences into a 480 page book using "research based assumptions" as he called it 🤨🤨🤨 That one I can't find credible at all even if he has the title of professor but I'll have a look at Kings&Generals still.
