I think it's a combination of the significant highs he hit very early on in his career and the pressure he's under to perform. At Leverkusen there were no expectations of him to be as good as he was. On top of that, he grew another 2 inches in height which heavily affected his technical ability. He hasn't grown into his body and i'm afraid he never will reach this level again. He's shown glimpses at Arsenal but no where near what he was, but that also comes down to how teams defend against Arsenal.
