Is it just me or is it not very vagina and womb-like? I mean an entrance, the passageway, a central chamber that receives the spent life back to it. Visited by the penetrating rays of the sun god ; the life-giver. An ancestor-veneration culture par extrordinaire.
Really impressed with the work you have already done on the castle! Been going for over a decade now and I am always excited to see what new things have been built and conserved. Doing Welsh (/Anglo-Norman) Heritage justice!
They’re closing the other one as it makes a loss. Cadw is very much a separate entity to the council run cafe. Hopefully something will replace the existing cafe soon. It’s a great location but a bit bland
I owned this on VHS back in the day, probably in 1988, watched it so much we wore the video out, it snapped and we were devastated. So good to see this back.
I hope you only allow the very best, most knowledgable and skilled Stonemasons near this conservation. Not Mickey Mouse unqualified, cowboy builders that have had conservation written on the side of their van.
When most countries tell their own histories, they try to make themselves look as badass as possible; when the Welsh tell their own history, they're the ones who get their heads chopped off. 😂
It's always surprising to see how a castle was not just a fortification with towers open to the sky, walls and battlements but within its walls with quite a complex of working buildings and living space.
All the other Roman fort excavations show a strong flow of water for hygiene. This fort is depicted at the apex of the terrain. Just how did the water flow carry the waste out???
