I am your host Chrizinator and I believe that every video game is a journey. So let’s take that journey together......and some other inspirational cliches and whatever.
Before becoming a gaming channel, I reviewed anime (that’s why my subscriber count is pretty high compared to my views). I deleted my old videos (which I regret immensely) and left video making for several years. I decided to come back to making videos because I missed it a lot. Hopefully we can make new memories and new videos.
Will I ever review anime again? Someday eventually.
I would ask someone if they like war stories like Attack on Titan or even Apocalypse Now as a pitch to Gundam. One of the main reasons I like Gundam is because those are stories I connect with.
Gundam is more influential then the legendary big 3 anime but western fans of anime aren’t ready for that conversation . Also if After War Gundam X aired on toonami as opposed to Gundam 79 the franchises popularity would have lasted a bit longer I think
I watch most Gundam retrospectives however thank you for that refrence to GuttedWren Studios Mobile Suit Gundam Abridged. I watched it and rewatched it non stop but it did come to an end. Life moves on and I am glad more than 12 people remember the show.
Mecha is super appealing to me because I operate heavy equipment. After operating excavators for awhile I noticed how all my senses were meshing with the machine and the bucket felt like my hand and the tracks like my feet. I’ve learned how to keep operating smoothly despite bumps and shakes (excavators can get into a cycle of shaking because is shakes you while your holding the sticks thus rocking the sticks).
About the novel, the anime came first, not the novel, so there was no "cut content". From what I remember, Tomino wrote it before the anime finished, as it was being canceled. But due to the anime later positive reception, he accepted that the novel would have a different ending if he had known Gundam wouldn't completely flop as it seemed to be
So much of Gundam, but especially The Universal Century, has such vast and powerful things to say about Empathy and the way it shapes not only people but Humanity entirely has shifted the way I see life.
I've been a Gundam fan since the typical entry point of Americans, Gundam Wing's US airing. I've tried watching a number of different mecha anime over the years with mixed results and found that I'm a Gundam fan much moreso than I am a mecha fan. Great video! Looking forward to more Gundam content from you!
I'm building my FM Aerial while watching your video on the background. Probably my biggest regret in life would be not giving me time to watch one of the real size gundams in Japan while I was there (I wasn´t into Gundam at that time) :(
Trust me, people who say "mecha anime focus too much on the mecha and not on the characters" They never watched a single mech show in their life and they never will, because they simply cannot get over the fact that mecha isn't just about selling toys and jerking off to machines. Unfortunately the majority of people thinks this way.
I mean that’s why most modern anime fans call the original Gundam boring cause there’s too much politics and plot and not enough mech action lol. These guys exist for a reason I suppose. This is also why younger fans of recent Gundam stories and UC fans don’t get along 😂
halfway through already a huge Gundam fan gotta say this is just a wonderful video. I think you present the show really lovingly and i can see it making someone actually want to watch it.
I started with Gundam Seed but couldn't finish the series but most gundams were cool af. And later read Gundam Origin manga , also couldn't finish it. I still remember i tried to watch Gundam Wing cause it was from alternate universe also its OP was dope. But the best gundam series for me is Gundam 00. Imagine experience watching a series in HD, huge difference from previous series, vibrant colors, slick gundam design and easily recognisable pilots. Also the story is basically " What if.." situation but based in real world politics. Like middle eastern conflicts, US being US , beefing with Asian bloc , suicide terrorist bombing escalating into bigger war, the civilians POV etc. Season 1 is the best but eventhough season 2 is weaker as they deviate from grounded story into "preparation to communicate with other lifeform" as all bloc unite into an authoritarian regimes, the gundam designs, character development , OPs are saving the series
