I followed Resolute legal’s advice by crossing out my authorization form and including a letter stating why, and that I would approve collection of information on a case by case basis. I never had a problem for about 1 year. Recently, the insurance company forced me to sign it by saying that if I didn’t sign it, they wouldn’t be able to book an IME (2nd one). This happened after multiple email exchanges that I wasn’t willing to sign it, but caved in when they said that they couldn’t evaluate me properly if I didn’t sign it, and could be cut off. I even offered to make a makeshift exchange of information agreement between the insurance company and the involved clinic and they refused to even give me the name of the clinic. They insisted for me to sign it. They probably just want to organize surveillance for my appointment is what I’m assuming. What did I get myself into? Could’ve I just refused?

What if my employer gave my position away (even though Human Resource told me my position will be held for 6 weeks or 12 weeks if need be) we are on week 7 and HR told me they gave my position away because they didn't hear from me .. I struggled big time to get my disability started. They just receives my disability packet (6th week). Long story but I AM SO UPSET! on top of everything else, they are using my disability against me.

What about mental illnesses? I have ADHD and have been working with my psychiatrist and therapist for over a year to find the right treatment for me. The medications I’ve been prescribed so far makes me stay up all night, not eat, and when I get off them to start something else I feel groggy/zombie like. All of this is documented and my doctor supports the fact that I have a disability.

Hearing voices in your head all day long is no joke, how in the world do they expect folks like this to work? They don't just hear the voices they answer them back and argue with them a lot. These voices identify themselves as *demons* and I believe they are!

Does the Manitoba Assistance payment have maximum caps on the amount of money you have in accounts? I know jurisdictions in the USA will cap amounts between 2 and 6 thousand dollars, but if someone with a disability at 45 has a work pension or a personal RRSP (or even an RDSP!) a provincial assistance cap feels like it would punish a person for saving, and in the event that they have no insurance, would expect them to deflate all their assets before being put on money-in-money-out treadmill for the duration of their disability (which could last the rest of their life!)

What about autism spectrum disorders? My son turned 18 last September and went through all the testing at the clinic our family doctor referred him to. That took us almost a year to get a diagnosis, got it in December and applied for disability on April 22. They are sending him to do the testing over,s aid they needed more recent tests? Also went through all the testing through his school the year before for his IEP. Autism isn’t curable?

The insurance company is starting to talk about a settlement. This was mentioned by my case manager on the phone. I’m aware of “present value” offers. Am I right to think that the “present value discount rate” on your settlement calculator should be set higher towards the 5% due to the interest rates being higher lately? Some high interest savings account offer over 5% right now. This will affect me greatly. Thank you! ❤

Does this disability law works in the USA or just Canada? I live in Texas, and I was receiving LTD from my previous employer since 1995. I suddenly lost my benefits after a medical review by the disability company, because my doctor accidently left a note by error in my medical records that said, "I was late to my doctor appointment due to work", the disability insurance company saw this in my medical records and started to investigate me, I was mail a letter from the Insurance company and demanded to see a copy of my 2012 tax year1040, I refuse to mail them anything, I then was told your benefits have ended this happen back in 2012 and still upset, I try to get an attorney but I kept running into cracker box phony disability attorneys in Texas that refuse to take my case. I then lost my appeal. The insurance stop my payments because I did not responds to their demands. Update: as of today they owe me over more then $100k. Can I still open a case and get them to restart my payments or get a lump sum?

Im a PWD & have a child with a woman who lives in another province. We still consider ourselves dating but dont live together & spend more time apart. I saw this under Earning Exemptions “ • $16,200 a year for a single person with the Persons with Disabilities designation • $19,440 a year for a family with two adults where only one person has the Persons with Disabilities designation “ Which do you think I fall under? Thanks so much.

Disability Pension denied, there reason was my doctors medical records wasn’t enough basically, even though my doctors said I was disable, plus SSDI doctors agreed, they didn’t look at Social Security decision at all. I believe they didn’t think I would pursue any legal action, knowing that I would receive some kind of pension anyway. Also they knew the only way to contest the denial was in Supreme Court. Isn’t that a huge mistake on them for not reviewing SS decision at all. Doesn't that also violate my rights.

We don't have any rights sadly. Coming from experience. :( Even jobs that require no experience they refuse to hire you. Been there. But would rather hire someone who doesn't do their job. It sucks.

I've been diagnosed with 5 mental health disorders, one of them being labeled as one of the hardest to live with. I've been hospitalized 3 times, gone to a 6 week residential place, I've been on meds, seeing a therapist and psychiatrists. Im doing my best to take care of it. I made an appeal the first time I was denied. Had my hearing and almost a year later....I got denied. A 4 year process. And there's wrong information in their decision. They got certain chains of events completely backwards. I won't give details but instead of saying claimant did ABC...they said I did CBA. And because I have been working part time...they say I'm capable. I can't not work. I'm allowed to work a certain amount of hours. But I'm basically working with family so I actually get accommodations and they understand my issues. Now I'm getting a lawyer.

I tried to get disability as I am physically unable to work. I was denied. Never talked to me, evaluated anything. Just denied because I had not met the 3 criteria. Not enough contributions to cpp for example. It’s basically a death sentence, with no way to have any income. I’ll likely be on the street within the year.

Ive never been disabled mentally ill but others I know are abd have been since 1975 and they never had to disclose their own condition s ever. I was retailiatrd against illegally by employers who did not force their favorite co workers to disclose their medical conditions. The employrs I worked for tried to get my birth certificate and violated my privacy abd rights since 1995. Without making their favorite s they rehired twice or three times to disclose any of their medical conditions.
