Tempered glass doesn't always have a logo on it. Some people who would want tempered shelves or tabletops would not want a logo. We would order them and request No Logo.
I placed a 1/4" mirror on a angle grinder fitted with a sanding disk. Worst finish ever. As I went around the corners literally chunks and globs were flying off, yes small globs just flying off.
Thanks for showing the "Correct" way. Nearly all other videos I've watched on how to cut glass show some bad technique or mistake. Your was the best so far. :)
Great instruction. I had great success cutting a 1/4 mirror! Thank you so much! Breaking out the score with your fingers worked better than a yardstick.
Originally a glass cutter, Guy found he had the incredible ability to turn himself blue on command and founded the "Blue Guy Team." This later became the Blue Man Group as we know and love today. 😉
Great thanks. Shame this video showed up so far down in the RU-vid search as I had to sit through about 20 other sub par videos before finding a real pros advice 👍
I am a journeyman glazier. You explained glass cutting better than most videos I have seen. Mirror is a delicate material which needs special care when cutting and handling. Thank you!
I needed a special size mirror for a project I am doing. I couldn't find the size I needed anywhere, So I was going to buy a larger mirror and cut it down. I found the American Glass and Mirror RU-vid tutorial about glass cutting. Guy did such a good job on the tutorial, I decided to call them up and see if they had the needed size. I was able to purchase the size needed and not worry about possibly breaking up a larger mirror. Nice "Guy", great service.
How to break off a smaller piece of the side, about 2 inches wide? I feel it is hard to apply an even pressure with hand on both side. It is a large sizer mirror and I just want to cut it short. I didnot find a good video to show the tricks. Mose cut is through the middle, or using a small piece for demo. To cut a small piece from a large thick mirror is what I am looking for. Thanks!
I didn't think it was possible for somebody to be a douchebag while teaching you how to cut a piece of glass. It takes a special kind of skill. This guy could probably demonstrate his douchebag abilities while making a ham sandwich
1/2" glass is more difficult to cut. The thickness makes it hard to run the score. Plus it almost always has to be polished after because the edge is not very smooth. Good luck!
I'm sure this is a great lesson in glass cutting. I know absolutely nothing about it so my thoughts amount to what I blame my dog for even though I'm the one who stepped in it . . . However if the very expensive pro cutter works no better than the $3 cutter, it may not be a professional . . . And I couldn't get any farther after I was told about everything I wouldn't have or anything close to it.
Excellent demonstration video...nice work and a new subscriber 109 Prefer the hybrid Toyo w/TC17 straight & 600 cutting heads for heavy plate Haven't tried cooking oil...used engine oil and/or transmission fluid with success even antifreeze with near freezing temperatures
your video was really helpful - I've had my share of challenges trying to save glass and re-using it by cutting it. I hope this helps w my next project...and thanks for having a sense of humor - you a funny guy, Guy ! peace...
hello, this is very helpful. Thanks for the video. I wanna ask something : I have a glass dining table with 1/4" and I want to cut it. However, I do not know which cutter i should buy. Do glass cutters come with different glass-thickness purpose (for example, one glass cutter is for 0.3 mm and the other one is for 0.6 mm, etc.)? sorry for my bad english. I hope u understand what I ask. Thank you
Thanks for educated and not a boring video:) My question is; can I use olive/canola oils instead of what u mentioned ? coz just going to use one time for a piece of mirror I don't wanna keep purchasing things for little diy project, Thanks
Hi again well I bought the bio clean waterspot remover & I am sold on it... I had horrible water spots caked up thick on all my car windows after appyling it using just bit of presure it cut through all water spots windows look as they are brand new... Seen many videos out here on youtube using many technics swirlers on drills clay bar & so many other gimicks I know now that bio clean will be the only product I will ever need to use...Thanks much....
Benjamin Selinske Yes there are so many other products out there I had tried using invisible glass spot remover didn't do a thing to the glass will be taking it back to walmart..
Hi Old Timer... Yes, there are different companies that make products called, BioClean. Ours is a glass cleaner, but there is a pipe cleaner by the same name. We get ours from a glass supplies company. I've never tried it on a car window, but wouldn't imagine you'd have a problem unless there is a tinted film on the glass.
Glad you found it helpful, Penny. For non-professionals, most glass cutters are created equally. A $6 Fletcher glass cutter from your local hardware store should fit the bill for the hobbiest or infrequent user. If you are going to be using it quite regularly, then you might consider buying a pen style cutter from CR Laurence or Bohle in the $30 range. That's what most of my guys use, although I'm old school and stick with the green Fletchers since that is what I cut my teeth on.
