I searched a lot about NAS storges and WD vs Synology NAS, it's not the company, Synology has better UI and utilities I give you that, but all the reviews say buy their NAS with empty drives then buy the drives separately because they install the worst drives in the market. Everything comes with a price to pay, don't you. Now if you really don't have a NAS with at least 4 drives in 4 bays built with RAID5 matrix, and something happens to any drive fault. You will lose data regardless what your NAS company's name. You can RU-vid or google about RAID 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 ,5 and 01, 10 ... etc. and see the diff between them.

It's more often the filter on the end of the pump that clogs up with debris. Clean that and pump works again. (see 4:15) BMW designed the filter to clog with any other screen wash than BMW's own brand !!!

Did you lose any Data when the drive died? or did the raid 5 prevent any data from being lost? I am looking to upgrade one of the slots from a 4tb to 8tb, if I just remove one of the drives and replace it with the 8, is the idea that it will auto rebuild all the data onto the new drive?
I tried the one II this week. While it sounded better than smart speakers or my JBL sound bar...it wasn't quite where I needed it to ne. If I had up to an 8x10 room and was not needing much bass, it was fine. But for medium rooms, it wasn't enough. There is not remote option either. I ordered the three II. None of the smart speakers come close.
I was going to buy this unit but decided not too because the rear bar connection can be easily stolen. Wouldn't be fun getting back to ones car only to not be able to mount it because some jerk stole the rear mount. But I love this concept for a roof bike rack.
I did both, first with auto and it failed a couple of times. I tried manual and failed as well. Don't worry about your data. They will not be wiped out. But the build process in either way will fail and the red light will still shine. I had to buy another WD My Cloud then moved all data from old to new and now I'm formatting Vol 1. Let's see where this is going.
A painful machine I had an auto update which failed half way through. Then it told me the hard drives had failed in pays 3 and 4, where there were no hard drives. Then it told me drive had failed in bay 1 where i had a drive. So you recieve the red light on the power button. This means that you can not access the settings of the dashboard. It can no be located on the CAT6 network. via IP address, the WD app or any other means. Yet the one drive that still works will play the music on it around the house and I can find it on my computer manually. yet the computer can not find it its self. It has been a pain to use since day one. I have too friends who work in I.T. one writes code and the other fixes all sorts from a specialist company. Neither of them like it.
I don't get it, so you had only ONE drive in BAY 1??? what about Bay 2, 3 and 4. If you didn't have any other drives but one. You don't have RAID5 because RAID5 needs at least 3 drives to work. Thus, if you had 4 drives, and TWO of them failed, you still can build the data with what you have. I have WD My Cloud DL 4100, and Bay 1 HDD failed. So, I tried auto and failed many times. I tried manual with no luck at all. I bought an exact HDD drive and replace it, tried to build RAID5 in auto and manual. No luck also. The weird thing is, Bay 2 drive start to give me too red light and it had no issue at all. I couldn't understand what's going on especially after rebooting the system, bay 2 light went back to blue... talking about weird.. right. So, I had to buy another WD My Cloud EX 4100 and moved all data from old to new. Now, I'm formatting HDD in bay 1 or Volume 1. Let's see where this will lead us.
Hopefully you’re still active on here and will respond to this but I see the drive you replaced your failed drive with is a WD Red. Was the drive you replaced a Red as well? If so, how long did it last?
I bought WD 24TB My Cloud DL4100 Business Series Network on June 8, 2015, and it has been a month since I saw Drive 1 in red light, I checked its status and it has faulty readings, so I bought a replacement "3.5 WD60EFAX WD60EFRX 6TB SATA 5400RPM SATA 6Gb/s 256M Cache 3.5" WD Red NAS Hard Drive" a week ago, and I just got it today, 1/9/2024. It lasted pretty long, like about 9 years. The other three drives are still working perfectly with no issues. Oh, I have a "CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD PFC Sinewave UPS System, 1500VA/1000W, 12 Outlets, AVR, Mini Tower,Blac" for protection from power surges, sags and spikes. All were bought from Amazon.
Great job on this video. I've been seeing wet spots under my wife's car and noticed that the low washer fluid light was coming on quite frequent. My easier to repair than my 09 X5. Thanks

Hey man, have a very similar setup on my vw jetta. I just ordered a 2021 Trek DS3 and I believe it says it had a 5x100 QR setup. Will it mount to this? I'm a little confused.

How many Drives you have in your WD My Cloud NAS. If you have 4, data will never be lost since one of the drives will always be used by RAID5 matrix to rebuild a new empty replaced HDD. RAID5 is a technology that is used to make data safe. Have you removed this matrix and replaced it with any other forms of RAID. I know other forms will give you more space or speed to access data, but don't be deceived by this. Because extra space comes at data safety cost thus any fault at the drive will cause data loss, which is the worst thing anyone wants.
Did it complete okay? I've heard stories of the PR4100 getting a URE and all the data being wiped out, but have no idea if that's just one horror story and the majority of them being fine.
I did this and failed multiple times, auto and manual. I had to buy another WD My Cloud and moved all data to the new one. Now I'm formatting the degraded one. Don't know yet the outcome.
@@TAGE_FPV The formatting failed a couple of times with the faulty drive installed. I replaced it with a healthy one, then rebuild it as RAID 5. This worked and now I have both My WD Cloud working. But till now I'm storing all my data on the newer one.
