Would have loved to riden this ride. it's like a mix of classic dr who and hitchhiker's. Do you think you'll uphold the original 1987 POV as an individual video?
Was denkst Du?
Also ich habe ein anderes Video gesehen und das läßt vermuten, dass die singenden Köpfe nicht mehr da sind und der klopfende Geist im Sarg. Meine absoluten Favoriten!
interesting documentary but do not forget to show instead of tell. There's a lot of talk but not much images. Please show what the challenges were in keeping (were possible) the older animatronics / puppets. Now we are mainly seeing "talking heads" explaining.
@@jdchoven Unfortunately I was limited to the footage Europa-Park were able to record of the project which was mainly the later stages so the first half is a little light on footage
Liebes Mack Media Team, vielen Dank für diese wunderbare badisch-elsässisch-französische Doku, in denne d' Litt schwätze, wi ihne de Schnabl gwachse isch. Danke an alli Kolleeeginne und Kolleege, die so schee fun ihrer Arbeit vazehlt hänn, dass mir alli mitgnumme wärre un ä Einbligg kriege. Mir hätts total gut gfalle. Sinn halt alli symbadisch in sällem EP (un de Firme drumrum) ❤😍
Just came back from 3 days Europa Park. 3 days of bloody hot 🥵🥵🥵 fun. Thanks to all the waterrides, there were plenty of possible cool off's. (Soaking wet. I love it) Europapark isn't very good in theming, to be honest. Of course, some rides are ridiculously good themed, like Voltron or pirates in Batavia, but many others aren't at all. Even some of the newer rides are just badly done.( I have never seen so many ugly "animatronics/dolls" together in one park. 😮 And, what about that parade from hell?. Do it well or stop it. It was embarrassingly bad. The same goes for the fairy-tale part of the park or even the great ride system, but damn ugly Arthur. I hated it. Absolutely a few levels below parks like Efteling, Phantasialand or Disney. Does it matter? Nope, Europa Park is such a fun park to spend a few days. Especially when it's 30°C outside. Highly recommend 👌
Europa Park is one the most fantastically themed parks in the world! Every corner has something to find and explore. The weird dummies everywhere are part of the oddness and fun! Other than Silver Star it’s exploding with beautifully presented rides
Europa-Park is a massive mixed bag of really well done new rides (Voltron, Batavia, honorable mentions for Snorri Touren and even dare I say Madam Freudenreich as well, yes it is an odd sight but so packed full of details that the overall quality of the decor isn't the issue here), but then also some half-baked things (Hello Josefina), which have also just been fairly poorly maintained and it already looks fairly run down, and lastly, all of the really old things, like some of the fairy boat rides or even the lil dark ride in the Russian Themed area. Euro-Mir itself is also really outdated looking, especially with Eurosat having been refurbished as well and (at least the outside n queue) looking absolutely fantastic. I have the feeling that is going to change sooner or later though. I feel like with a park as big as this and with how old it is, that might be why there's still so many really old things, both because nostalgia and because it would be too much to rebuild everything all the time. But even with all that said, in my eyes, it's still a solid park. As far as Phantasialand goes, I think it is very hard to really find anything that can really compete with that. Its biggest flaw are the massive downtimes at times that have been reported en mass by people before, and that I have experienced myself, but everything from theming, the rides, the food, it's all incredibly well made and in my opinion, Phantasialand has really pushed the bar for what a theme park can be.
I definitely appreciate the result and the creative work that went into the attraction. The Geisterschloss deserved some love after all the years of neglect. I love seeing what happens in the companies working on Europa Park rides and shows. Hope i will be able to experience Castello Dei Medici for myself one day but for now videos will have to do. When will the OST release? It sounds really nice.
This version and the rubber duck (aka Imperial Leather) were the best versions. I loved the Imperial Version most simply because I love rubber ducks, tho this version was also amazing. The ride now is just so bland. No iconic bubble smell and no fun track. Just projectors. A soulless cash grab.
Man, I remember this ride from years ago... I visited pre-Batavia fire too, so I only experienced the old version of that ride too. Even back then, it was really showing its age... the reflection-ghost effect was still working but not very well, the scenes were disjointed, and I really felt like someone had jammed in too many copies of Haunted Mansion references, instead of letting it be its own story. This looks like a vast improvement, never mind that it was looking tired already back then, so I can only imagine how much it needed a rebuild. Kudos to Mack Rides, they've done a banger job.
Very well done! I had no idea this ride existed, but seeing into it’s creative process and history definitely makes me want to go and see it for myself!
Fantastic documentary, so interesting to hear from all the creatives. It’s amazing what a big transformation they completed in such a short time! I would love to get to Europa Park some day soon and experience the attraction myself!
Great to see more love for Geisterschloss, it has such an interesting history. I'm amazed the refurbishment took only so short, it turned out very well, although I do miss some of the old animatronics. Can't wait for part 2!
Beautiful, I imagine they wanted to make sure this attraction was updated and preserved after the recent fires they’ve had. Sometimes, you don’t need to reinvent a whole attraction to thrill and surprise people. I would still choose practical, real, visceral effects over VR. Europa Park never stops getting better. 💙💛
I can't believe I've just watched a video about 1981's Alton Towers looking for references and ended off being in shock at the how incredible the editing and overall composition of this video is
@@TeamTheme I think it’s fun as far as rides go in the UK. It’s not great scenery and is pretty inconsistent, I think there could have been better done with the ride, but it is entertaining again.
It would be great if you ever got the chance to do a documentary of the spirit of London ride at Madame tusssauds. One of the rare few UK dark rides that still retains its original charm
That would be great, but unfortunately not likely as the production archives are owned by Merlin who don't allow use. I have researched with some of the production team though, it's a special ride!
I'm watching this as a 27 year old (born in '97), i only have such a vivid memory of going on the original but according to my parents, when i saw the cow (yes, the cow), i was Petrified and wouldnt stop crying until we got off, i didnt go back on it until it was then refurbished as imperial leather? i havent been back to chessington since 2009 if i can remember rightly and i was surprised to hear its not there anymore, its a shame, it felt like one of those rides that would last forever but i guess merlin had other ideas. I can see why this ride had a huge fanbase though, a lot of work, passion and detail went into it.
I'm curious to see which photos and concept drawings there are from the early days of the Ghost Castle. Europa Park only ever shows one old photo: the black and white photo of the hanged man next to the bell from 1982. But there should still be photos of the construction in 1982 and of course the concept drawings of the original scenes. It would be nice if you showed these in your documentary.
There will certainly be some very interesting material, although it is taking a lot of detective work to track down! So far we have found many early concept drawings and have talked to some of the original design team. Also we have some old 90s footage, but it's very dark, would you be happy to contribute some of your footage too? That would be great help, I would make sure to link your channel.
@@EuroThemeParkArchive OK, there are videos from the 90s on RU-vid. Sorry, but I don't want to contribute anything to the documentary. I'm always happy when someone uploads an old video to RU-vid, but I despise the new "Castello dei Medici"! I absolutely do not like anything about this redesign. In my opinion, it's the biggest mistake Europa Park has ever made.
0:49 Funny story, when I went early 90's as a kid that black elastic band thing was called the spider web. Me and my two friends went on it, one of us got Jammed half way until he moved slightly and the elastic band slapped me in the face as I was trying to free him, my other fiend laughed so had he started to pee himself and he piddled on everyone below. I l loved this place. Especially the cinema with the movies playing, a car chase through San Francisco if I recall and a roller coaster.
