Suzanne certainly was a worthy winner. Michelle--dont get me wrong was amazing and tbh I felt sorry for her regarding the press constantly slamming her appearance--but her sympathy vote unfortunately paved the way for all the auditionees on future shows such as X Factor, BGT etc to fabricate and or use a sob story to get through to the next rounds 🤦🤦🤦🤦
@@rainbowlady1532 Oh yeah, those damn sob stories just piss me off 🤬 I'm not trying to sound heartless, but I hate that they are used to gain sympathy from the audience and receive more votes. You are right about Suzanne, she might not have won the competition, but she deserved a record deal after the show. Maybe it's because of the infamy the show got due to the low ratings and Michelle's doomed to fail career no other finalist had much luck securing a record deal 😞
Watching this in 2022 is hard, this girl wasnt even shown on auditions, i dont remember her at the hollywood rounds, so it was harder for her to make an impression, you could tell in her face she was shocked and itwas so awkward to watch.
I've said this in other comments, even if she didn't have any screen time prior to the semi-finals, she still picked the wrong song. It was the wrong choice because she is a low-tone singer. Someone needs to have a very strong higher register to sing a Jennifer Rush and Celine Dion song like that one. That's why Trenyce and Amy Adams sang it so well in seasons 2 and 3, respectively. And as far as her not getting a fair amount of exposure in the earlier episodes, Melissa McGee, a contestant from the following season, had zero screen time prior to the live shows, but she still made it to the top 12 despite that edit.

Chris had the best voice by a mile.. but Sam and Mark were great personalities and Michelle was the underdog because she didn't have the "pop idol" look.
@@Martdiva1979 yeah and rather dishonest. It does make me feel bad for Michelle, she had her moment, won the competition only for her career to inevitably fail. It's good to know that she isn't discouraged, she still sings and finds other ways into show business.
@@jamesreed2366 awwww yeah good on her.. i thought it seemed a bit weird that her first song went straight to number 1 and then show me the meaning of Love went to number 4O i thought nah something not right there they stitched her up so out of order she's stronger than ever x

Perhaps the UK didn't just want a Gareth II? Perhaps they learnt that Will was longevity (and releasing another album this week almost 20 yrs on) and Gareth started flopping from Album 2...

British tv is such diarrhea. All these reality tv shows designed to humiliate people publicly and make them break down in tears in front of a panel of bullies. Horrible.
I wasn't saddened to see her go at all. She chose the wrong song and was very off-pitch. Trenyce and Amy Adams sang it way better in seasons 2 and 3, respectively. If you choose a Jennifer Rush and Celine Dion song like that one, you have to have a strong higher register. She's more of a low tone singer. As for her not being shown very much prior to the live shows, well the producers never once showed Melissa McGee, who was on the following season, prior to the live shows and she made it to the top 12 despite that edit.
