20th purchase of a woman artist's work in 196 years. As a creative woman (writing not visual art), I feel the horror of that. We all work in this reality.

"Every daring attempt to make a great change in existing conditions, every lofty vision of new possibilities for the human race, has been labeled Utopian." ~ Emma Goldman

"Men and women ... do you not realize that the State is the worst enemy you have? It is a machine that crushes you in order to sustain the ruling class, your masters. Like naïve children you put your trust in your political leaders. You make it possible for them to creep into your confidence, only to have them betray you to the first bidder. But even where there is no direct betrayal, the labour politicians make common cause with your enemies to keep you in leash, to prevent your direct action. The State is the pillar of capitalism, and it is ridiculous to expect any redress from it." ~ Emma Goldman

If your heart wasn't still played in my heart was the clock whether it run me through like the love of a child kissing it's mom for the first time if your hand with an arrow in my hat and my hand was the time could you count a minute slowly backwards. Would your arrow Fall Like a Stone or would it hurts me again one last time.

Good only comes when the water is still in the face of danger. Your Love will back away. Not Gathering if it works or not. Fear and love love and fear. Come comes only when the sky is Cloudy and the rain falls deeply in love love conquers fear.❤ I don't know what I'm talking about. Stupid All That Remains is what you fear.

I so wish there was a bookshop like this around here. Most booksellers who operated storefronts went out of business a long time ago. Amazon ate them up. May Five Leaves flourish and prosper for a long, long time to come.

Good to see a lecture where Nina Hamnett is the central focus rather than hearing about her life through her association with other artists. I knew many details about her but in this lecture all those loose threads were drawn together and expanded with further details. Well researched and clearly presented. Thank you.

For whatever reason these woman artists where overlooked in the past it is good that you are trying to redress the balance. Much enjoyed this lecture. Next up, Eileen Agar!

Hugely impressed that the Ukrainian hosts were ready to come online to discuss writing, language and culture while under attack from Russia.

It certainly brought tears to the eyes of Five Leaves staff members. So sad you have to be so brave, but so glad you are.

I like the theme of colorism. Colorism is a newer phrase that they didn't have when I was growing up. It's a nice story. I love the sunflowers.

Love the ethos and sheer reflection on ones own eclectic nature Rosie. Much of what you spoke about here reminds me of my own journey. We only shared a space some years ago at the Chorlton arts fringe festival. Loved your ‘Things I did while I was dead’ book. Still treasured x

Just found your fascinating talk while looking (in vain) for a film biography of Eileen Agar. I visited the “Angel of Anarchy “ touring exhibition currently in Leeds, but they were closing early, so was unable to spend as much time as I wanted with her beautiful works. I think her lack of interest in older (perhaps over-worked) works and willingness to re-use canvases and objects is typical “artist“ behaviour, always more interested in and excited about new, current ideas rather than previous, perhaps less satisfying work. It’s a pity that so much of her work is in private collections, and therefore less accessible to researchers and curators. Many congratulations for organising - and touring - this one!

he says WE HAVE TO PREVENT THE UNION OF FAR RIGHT WITH POPULIST RIGHT; cnn mbnc nbc abc have been working on this since 2016; annoys a lot of people; Paul is anti-establishment but it is only the populist right that can get the right reforms enacted; the far left is offensive and liberal left is in bed with the bankers paul is tired of losing elections; i get it but starmer will pay lip servie to corbin and turn into a blair!

I don't know why you would assume they were working class. Judging by their politics middle class would be a much safer bet. Middle class people, especially those with a conspiratorial mindset and no higher education, are statistically the mainstay of far-right politics
