This is a very ancient way in hatha yoga through which great great sages have benefitted....in hatha yoga chedan is a must..but not in kriya yoga I also have done my first chedan through my guru who is in this video...and i cant wait for my second I will do it 24 more times after that

Incorrect practice. Please read hatha yoga before practicing. It should be done very gently and slowly and turmeric should be applied. You can lose your voice.
In the video, he is slightly cutting tongue-tie, which does not allow our tongue to fold. I do not think it harms. It won`t effect speech. It is my openion.
For kechari mudra,Lahiri Mahasaya said these 🔪 acts on tongue shouldn't be performed, as it may causes some issues. Instead of these he proposed many tongue exercises which helps to make the lower portion of the tongue flexible ......(don't cut it).
Shastra pramana is important for Hindus , Lahiri maha saya is not a shastra pramana , all yogic texts clearly mention cutting of the lower portion of the tongue , shastras are older than lahiri mahasaya , who became famous after the release of the book “ autobiography of a yogi “, shastras are as old as time itself , many new yogis will come and go
