In each episode of Turning Point, former national news anchor and morning show host Priya Sam interviews a guest about a turning point in their life. The turning points are as diverse as the guests; some stem from big decisions or taking a leap of faith while others are rooted in tragedy or unexpected obstacles. All are inspiring.
I love everybody on TPB, but J Roc has always been one of my favorite characters... I never ever got tired of him.. he was hilarious every time he did that Haauuuuuh (not sure how you would spell that but any true J Roc fan knows what I'm talking about)! Or when he referred to 'white people' as crackers 😂 I was so bummed when he was suddenly 'on tour' and gone.. I always hoped that he would come back! He really is a phenomenal actor! Sayin??? p.s. it made me so sad how Snoop dissed him!
My birthday is Valentine's day and I cried off and on all day about this beautiful little girl and the immense loss this mom had to face. It broke my heart. I still think of this sweet baby girl every year. I didn't know this mom and daughter but I felt and feel connected somehow.
I love her cooking on TV, especially Mary Makes It Easy. Her recipes are unique, appealing, and doable. Her personality is infectious, endearing, and friendly.
Good stuff. My current role is very controversial Had to do a lot of research to nail it. (Thanks Jerry Springer 😅) i know it's about time to drop it Before I get shot 😆 But I just wanna 🥛it for all it's worth. #CapcomTaughtMe 😎 (
Bengalis rose up in arms when they heard Salman Rushdie wrote up something against Mohammad and his 6 yr wife. Are you against Rushdi or with your sick countrymen? Nusrat Rizvi, Palm Beach Garden FL.
I just started watching TPB , currently on S04. And J-Roc is one my most favorite character from the show. Sad to learn that my g left TPB. Will surely miss his character when he is gone. For me.
This interview is absolutely amazing. I think it is wonderful when a person has a career that they find so enjoyable that it feels like an extension of their personality. Mary is just being herself (loving food, enjoying cooking, being bubbly, etc.) and she is able to make money while doing it. That is fantastic. I view her success story (getting her own cooking show) as an example of why it can be beneficial to take time to explore one's passions. Although she was working at the insurance brokerage she nurtured her passion for cooking by being open to entering the Master Chef Canada contest. If she had not entered that contest perhaps she wouldn't have her own show. Mary's experience reminds me of the importance of having an awareness of exciting opportunities (including events, contests, and opportunities to meet new people) that are related to my interests, hobbies, etc. It reinforces the value of looking online, in newspapers, using social media, television ads, word of mouth, etc. to uncover opportunities. It is awesome that she had a friend that was into reality television and her family encouraged her to enter the contest. Good for Mary for not just talking and thinking about the Master Chef contest but taking action and entering it!!!! The saying "opportunities multiply as they are seized" applies here. It must have been exhilarating for her to submit photos to the Master Chef production company and be offered the opportunity to have her own show. Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Hmmm. So Mary has a Master's Degree in Information Technology and an undergraduate degree in English. It is nice that she is able to draw on her English studies to assist with creating the cookbooks. Her story is so inspiring. I like how the combination of Mary's personality, relationships, passion for cooking, etc. all came together to play a role in her success. That is great synchronicity. I was saddened to her about the tragedy her family faced when Mary was young. Fortunately, she appears to have a resilient personality. Thanks for doing this interview Priya! It is outstanding.
Thank you so much for sharing these thoughts Karen! I really appreciated hearing all of the different layers of Mary's story. She's so genuine and positive. I really appreciate you listening and taking the time to share your insights!
@@PriyaSam I am constantly learning about remarkable individuals (through reading biographies, watching documentaries, contacting amazing people on social media, reading magazines and being into the media). Glad to know you are accepting suggestions for shows. Hope to connect with you on LinkedIn and share some ideas. You are amazing and I can think of so many people that have experienced turning points and would be interested in connecting with you!
This was an excellent interview, props to both of you for being brave enough to speak up about this (especially Meera for being public about her caste).
I'm so glad you enjoyed this interview! I have so much respect for Meera and the work she is doing to raise awareness about the negative impact of casteism.
What a true entertainer. I have so much respect for him. The fact he didn't want to disrespect the audience by phoning it it says so much. I do feel like much of the rest of the cast had mutual feelings. Sometimes you just know when it's time to pack up and move onto other ventures. TPB seasons 1-7 an movies like "countdown to liquor day" are something magical and something that didn't feel played out or forced. Absolute legend.
I don't know about the other shows he mentioned, but I do know he was the most talented character on TPB. Best of luck Jonathan in everything you do in the future.
Same here. But even though I didn’t know the shows he referenced in trailer park boys as jroc, it’s the way he says it, especially with insulting randy and Lahey.
The world doesn’t need a middle age guy in a doorag right now . I totally disagree! That’s exactly what the world needs - more laughs & less of this unfunny woke politically correct entertainment.
We all miss J to roc.. also its funny he started this interview by saying “i think its a gut thing” 😂😂😂 he’s completely wrong.. we want him on trailer park boys.. he left a huge hole on that show..
She really is!! I'm so glad you enjoyed this one. I've always really appreciate her thoughtful reporting and it was nice to learn more about her personally.
