Haha I'm sorry! It was hard for me too but I tried to simplify it as much as possible. I'm really good at following step-by-step instructions in text form, so maybe the Notion page in the description is easier to follow! (maybe not lol)
I use the same strategy, from my experience 3 years of testing every method on the internet I think this strategy that I use is helpful: Vocabulary: Anki Grammar: Busuu reading: moon reader or something like this (lingq) listening and watching: RU-vid Premium writing: ChatGPT or any website can correct your writing speaking: chatgpt
So a few things. 1. You do NOT need to run powershell as administrator. Nothing about this requires administrator privileges. You only need that if you're modifying something you don't normally have access to, which in Python's case, should not be a problem. You also don't even need to use powershell. You can use Command Prompt, create the environment with the exact same commands, and activate the environment with ".\envlute\Scripts\activate.bat", which by the way does not require you enter a custom command to make it work. It should just work 2. You're making this harder than it needs to be for the users to launch Lute. All you need to launch it once it's installed is to create a batch file by opening notepad and entering the following stuff into it (replacing <path/to/lute> with the path you copied earlier): cd <path\to\lute> start .\envlute\Scripts\python.exe -m lute.main pause Then save it as something like start-lute.bat (be sure you select the type "all files" as by default notepad will try to save as a text file). For those curious what these lines are for, I will explain. The first is to enter the folder you created for Lute. The second is to start python in the python environment you created with the lute module. Finally the last is telling Command Prompt to not automatically close once Lute exits. I recommend keeping this line as if Lute has an issue, you'll be able to actually see what the error was instead of it closing immediately after
It has a quite a few preconfigured languages, but you can add as many as you want to! Some might be harder to set up than others, but people on the Discord server can help you with tricky cases :)
@@is4ndroide Probably French-I haven't had classes for two years but happen to have a use case for it in a research project. And also German for older literature/advanced texts.
@@saantomero5483 Check out my never videos on Lute. It improves on LWT on almost every way, and it lets you import books directly in .epub and other popular formats! Let me know if you need any help with that :)
In most cases, the reason for unsatisfactory results of learning a foreign language is a loss of interest in the student, or you have stopped at some stage of their training and began to "stomp in one place. Thus, the effort and time you have spent in the absence of new techniques will not allow progress in mastering the language. For example, if you spend your time and effort learning the alphabet for months on end, you will not learn to read, write, speak and understand the spoken and written language. Yuriy Ivantsiv in his book "Polyglot Notes. Practical tips for learning foreign language" writes that you should not selectively stop at one thing, and try to gradually move forward, without skipping anything and not jumping, developing all the necessary language skills for you proportionally. Only then will you get effective results. In your strategy for learning any information for you, including a foreign language, you should adhere to the following principle: you made a breakthrough - mastered the new information, then you need to take the time to consolidate the material and bring it to automaticity. The next step - learn new material and master it, and so on. "There are no secrets to success. It's the result of good preparation, hard work, and learning from your mistakes." Colin Powell. Many thanks to the author of the channel for the tremendous work in creating the instructional video. Thanks to such helpful videos, we have rapid progress in language learning.
Hi, friend, I suppose it would be great if you made a video of your system of spaced repetition in Anki, in particular, it is crucially important to understand: 1) how to set the interval system up. 2) What do you do when you skip the repetition? How do you compensate for that? 3) How to synchronize Desktop and mobile versions. 4) add-ons which help to fill the deck cards in faster. P.S. Also it would be great to tell about your system of memorizing a word. I mean how you try to retain it in memory in the very first phase of word learning, before repetition. Do you use any kind of phonetic-lexical associations with your native language or any other methods? P.P.S.I know there are some videos on YT but most of them are very superficial and sometimes useless and I find your videos very helpful, without neither further ado, nor clickbait.
Thanks. I will try Stardew Valley in German then. I recently started playing Dungeon Clawler in German but it quickly got too easy. I know I learned a lot of English as a child from video games. A lot of my English comes from Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Hi! I'm not sure why that might be, but you can jump onto the Discord server in the description of the video and we might be able to help you out more!
Thanks for this video! I have a question, do you think Lute could be use even from a beginner level or is it more recommended for an intermediate level? I find it challenging to find books easy enough to understand so that I don't feel overwhelmed at my level. :)
That's a great question. (I wrote Lute.) I think it _can_ be used at a beginner level, but it should be tied to whatever beginner material you're using already. I was using it for Vietnamese and was marking every word as status = 1 (new word), but if you keep reading material at your level, those new words become not-so-new. The most important thing is not to try stuff that is far above your level -- it's tempting, but it's not a good use of your time.
@is4ndroide Hi mister. Yes in a lot games you can still switch to deutsch. They are not region locked, a lot games now have automaticaly lengueages of your console system. Try change system leanguage to deutsch, maybe this will help. ps: But sometimes german versions of games go out only in germany, because censore problems. Germany is really stricted about content in game for germans.
Yeah, maybe that has changed with newer generations. At least on my PS4, I couldn't play most of the games in German even if I switched the console to that language, due to living in Latin America :( But it's a matter of adapting and finding those that do let you play in your target language, or playing things on PC!
It would be great if you could explain the way you use Anki to break down the sentences you find in games (i especially like that you can put a screenshot too)
I am getting Error during startup: 'EntryPoints' object has no attribute 'get' Please try again, or report an issue on GitHub. Additionally, help is available with --help. Does anyone know why this is?
For me, I personally prefer to use movies and TV shows to learn a new language. One of the tools I use is an extension browser called Immersive Translate, which just so happens to be free. I use it every day to watch Netflix, and it has proven to be really game-changing in my language learning journey.
Another free app that I’d like to recommend is Immersive Translate. It’s a web extension browser that supports a huge range of languages all within your fingertips. I use it every day to generate subtitles to my Netflix, and it has been a great way for me to integrate myself into the language.
Thank you for sharing! I loved Once Upon a Time. I remember really enjoying the show when I watched it a few years ago. For me, what’s really worked is Immersive Translate. It’s an extension browser that supports over 100+ languages. I love how reliable it is, and I use it every day to watch Netflix, which has really helped me become immersed in the language.
I agree with you. With the economy being the way it is, not all of us could afford another subscription on top of what we already have. With that having been said, I just want to mention Immersive Translate, a free language learning app that I’ve been using. It supports over 100+ languages, and I’ve been finding it really helpful so far.
I'm not sure what you mean. The video has correct subtitles. I think RU-vid should be able to translate them into your language automatically with acceptable accuracy!
@@is4ndroide Sorry, my English is not very good. I mean lingq I think can display texts from youtube videos. In addition, you can also listen to it with the voices in the video.
Some people used Termux to install on Android. There's no native iphone app. I've left Lute running on my Mac when on a wifi network, and can access my machine by IP address from my iphone if my iphone is on the same wifi network. But I do prefer reading on my desktop mac.
I am getting this error after -m venv envlute command. how to fix this? -m : The term '-m' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program. Check the spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is correct and try again. At line:1 char:1 + -m venv envlute + ~~ + CategoryInfo : ObjectNotFound: (-m:String) [], CommandNotFoundException + FullyQualifiedErrorId : CommandNotFoundException
when I'm typing: "python -m lute.main" this appears: "Error while finding module specification for 'lute.main' (ModuleNotFoundError: __path__ attribute not found on 'lute' while trying to find 'lute.main'). Anybody can help?
Hello dear friend. Thank you for all the content you post here. Would you know if it is possible to install this on a cellphone? Or there is an alternative app that works on Android?
Thanks for putting us on to these tools, especially Lute. I've managed to install on my Android devices with Termux after allowing file permissions and removing battery restrictions for Termux and my web browser. Managing and syncing backups is my next obstacle, but I see multiple ways of pulling that off. Hopefully I can cook up a couple scripts that will run in something like Termux and simplify things.
Great video - would love to learn Japanese this way, but obviously I need a better understanding of the alphabet first. It’s tricky to decide on a game, I think I’ll pick one that I’ve played before so I am at least familiar with what is happening.
