i love this video so much!! i have watched it 85692347657324586475 times since you've uploaded it and it never gets old! hickstead you were a champion that can not be forgotten <3 RIP
i dont even know what to say. this is by far my absolutely favourite video and tribute to the best horse and rider in the world. Rest in Peace and Paradise Hickstead. no horse deserves to anymore than you do. i will always remember you as the greatest most unbelievable horse in the world. you were more than a champion. you were a hero <3
@EmiLuvsStanley I agree that this is a fabulous video. And frankly, I haven't bothered with many other videos because this one is superior to any others I have watched. But to be somewhat fair to the others, I think we should keep in mind that this video was created when Eric and Hickstead had just come off of their Olympic triumph. A much different and happier time to commemorate than Hickstead's tragic death.
I first found this video during the WEG in Kentucky in 2010. I loved it then and I love it now (I've have probably watched it 100 times). It's really well done and captures what is special about Eric and Hickstead's story. It might seem a bit odd to take comfort from a RU-vid video, but upon learning of Hickstead's death, I went looking for this video and it really helps to see him in action at the top of his game. Great work. Just regret the circumstances that led me to seek it out again.
i love how lamaze points to his horse at the end of his round :) one of the most amazing and truly inspiring horse-rider partnerships of all time <3 amazing to watch them :) long live hickstead <3 you will be missed champion..
You brought him out of his darkness With your kind and loving hand He came galloping for you in your darkness And let you ride on the wind He brought you to the heavens And together you soared through the clouds And now he has let you off gently So that he can take off for the stars He carried you just long enough To make your dreams come true Now he's given you his wings Because he knows you've learned to fly For Hickstead, the horse who made me believe in miracles.
I know this was done because of the gold medal, but it is by far the best tribute I have seen to both Eric and Hickstead. Bittersweet. RIP Hickstead and condolences to Éric and all involved with this incredible horse
You know, this could even happen to the most athletic human in the world. Shit happens and to bad it was to the best. But what a way to go, I would have it no other way. God said that is the best horse, time for me to have him. So he went back up to his beloved creator.
