There are complex factors for why algae is proliferating, but you have too many nutrients in the water plus global warming. Bit more the former than the latter. Adding unatural quantities and sizes of fish makes it worse as they also add nutrients. A lot of what you are doing are sticking plaster fixes rather than sustainable solutions. Ideally you would have a large area around/next to the loch as a bog filter (normally that would exist naturally) but could be an area you dig out and fill with gravel and pump the loch water under it to trickle up through and be planted out with bog plants that consume the nutrients, before it trickles back through into the loch. In effect this is mimicking how the surrounding ecology would have been.

Yes, Barley straw. It takes too long for a water this size. At one point we had 14 bales submerged. The difficulty arrives when it's time to remove them. Can you imagine trying to remove sunken bales? Too difficult in my experience.
Hi David. Just wanted to drop you a line and say thanks again for welcoming myself and the little one to your fishery. You really do have a truly first class water and it was a privilege to spend a few hours chasing your fine fish.
