I'm a Christian, and I learned from this podcast. However, I think its portrayal of Barry Goldwater as a key influencer of American Christianity is exaggerated. Some research tells me that his relationship with religion was complex. Despite his influence on conservative ideology, Goldwater was critical of the growing power of the religious right within the Republican Party. So, I think the authors of this podcast are misguided in linking his use of the word "extremism" to the religious right. I'll provide a different perspective. I became a Christian during the Jesus Movement of the 1970s. And yes, in those days we were taught to be radical, but not politically. Our focus was on radical personal transformation through faith in Jesus. It was a truly wonderful time. As I changed, I became aware of flaws in the culture of my church, but those flaws did not include political extremism. 911 is mentioned in the podcast. My observation was that for a brief moment, people of diverse backgrounds and worldviews were hungry for unity and spiritual meaning in the days following the attack on the World Trade Center. I visited Union Square Park in NYC a few days after the attack and found a NJ church making a presentation that went on all afternoon. The mood was somber. There was music and preaching. And as people milled about the walls of remembrance in the park, nearly everyone who passed by stopped, listened and took literature from the church. I had an unforgettable encounter with a member of a Hari Krishna group who was of Middle Eastern heritage. He was having a panic attack due to the harsh treatment he had received since the attack. We hugged and I prayed for him. But in the following months, I watched spontaneous unity and spiritual seeking give way to bitter division. In an online forum in which I participated daily, an upsurge in the popularity of figures like Richard Dawkins and Sam Harris appeared among participants. These authors seemed to provide solutions to the kind of religious extremism that resulted in 911. Comradery in the forum gave way to unkindness as religious faith was no longer tolerated among forum participants. And, unfortunately, the unkindness was reciprocated. This was my first experience of a bitter chasm among worldviews that I believe continues to grow and weaken our country. My fear is that through its generalizations, a podcast like this will function to encourage prejudice against conservative Christians and worsen the divisions in our country.
1st time listening to TL, It won't be my last, it was AMAZING! Enjoyed hearing BO had his " awakening" while in the UK, my daughter went there to study & had her own " awakening", loved the Professor from Harvard & her simple, succinct explation on what is " christian nationalism", great hosts, this Episode should be required listening ALL over America, well done! ☮💜🌻
A lot of ignorance in this comment section. I’m sure they were ignorant when kids were waving Palestinian flags when the WTC collapsed, as they’re ignorant now.
Indian people are white even if you take very dark skin east indians if they where lighter some would look the same as northern and eastern europens . Gene flow from indian and into india via europe and central asia has been going on for over 30,000 years
It sucks. I know. But I'm a Nigerian and the economy is so bad that the currency I earn in can't support this channel in a way I would love to. If ads help them continue to do the work they do then I'm willing to accept that however much it sucks. At least until I can support them financially.
If you know your history, the same type of automatic weapons that the government wants to ban from citizens was the same weapons that shot Bonnie and Clyde, so only the government Wants to have the right to have weapons. In an anti white time, im so proud to be white. Proud of a great nation that we brought into being. We have been the means where by our success was shared with other countries. We raised the standard of living for the rest of the world. We are revered for our greatness. Inspite of thoes that out of jealousy despise us, we will continue to care about our fellow man and share our success in science, and medicine and industry with them like we have for over a humdred years.
18: 40 Enough heard to know that the REAL TRUTH (=the FORBIDDEN FRUIT), will NEVER be voiced in interviews such as this. It has to do with Satans Personified that are now committing genocides and crimes of war to recuperate the land they left behind after being occupied making sure they have the control privileges of owning the most lucrative businesses in the majority of the countries around the world that made them the riches ethnicity of earth that they use to buy U S politicians to have that government as their proxy, puppets, marionettes, place holders to use the Commercialization of the Ten Commandments that they invented to enslave the people of this planet. Look no further than the multimillionaires and Billionares that the favor with minuscule or no taxes to victimize the rest of us. Then again the ONLY "Truth" we get today are well structured well elaborated lies that the abundance of unscrupulous gullibles exploit, parrot and contribute to.
Hams an Islamist organization that israel helped form and use against fatah and PLO which were secular. Hams wss the perfect excuse for continuity of the occupation Alleging israel didn't know is false
False of course israel knew about hamas and it's development since Fatah and PLO are secular and hamas can be used as an excuse for the continuity of the occupation
A failed report that has no credibility. I am a son of this region and I know the details of the details. It is a report that was invented only to distort the image of this resistance party, which has made it a thorn in the eyes of its enemies.
This comment is for those who are interested in knowing the truth and not what is published by workshops affiliated with the Zionist entity. Hezbollah did not participate in the civil war in Lebanon in 1975, and the only reason for the party’s emergence was the Israeli occupation of Lebanon in 1982. Iran helped this party during 18 years of occupation to liberate Lebanon and force the Zionists to leave Lebanon unconditionally.
