Hi, It's CosmicCharles and I thought I'd provide a brief description of myself and the channel. I've been a magic player since 1999 and I've been playing pauper since 2016. I've had a few successful pauper brews that have been covered by mtg content creators in the past. Mtg content creation has been something I've been intetested in for a while now, so I thought I'd share my brewing here. I hope you'll enjoy.
I feel like this deck needs another shot. Snap is less good with Gruul Ramp and Glee trending downward. Breath Weapon and Scattershot could be the right tools for this metagame.
I should do another video on it. My times been severely restricted since I decided to go back to school, so I'm not sure how often I'll be able to upload.
honestly in a turbo deck malevolent rumble it's pretty slow, I'd definitely go for glimpse the impossible, wrenn's resolve or reckless impulse. RG is going nuts with cards drawing at the moment and it's a shame not using it with all these mana accelerations.
Thanks for the input! I disagree that rumble is slower than glimpse or impulse. I think it's faster than either as it digs 4 and adds 1 mana. Why do you think it's slower than those options?
@@CosmicCharles466@CosmicCharles466 you play 18 lands and 16 instant/sorceries, that means that more than half of your deck gets you nothing with malevolent rumble! With glimpse you can play 3 cards, and it gets you 1 token each card you don't play... Wrenn's resolve and reckless impulse although don't give you token you can play them for two turns! I find them so much better. But that's me! But you could easily try them!
@@timellins The issue with glimpse is that it's unlikey you'll have 8 mana by turn 2/3; it can be decent as a ramp spell, but it's difficult to use as a draw spell in Turbo. Part of the issue with draw spells is that most of your mana isn't permanent, so tapping to draw can set you back manawise. Since Rumble can get a permanent and replaces 1 mana, it gets around this. If you miss on an initiative creature or Chrysallis or if you want mana, you can pick up a land, or SSG/Petal. Card draw can be good in good in turbo initative, but you would need more ritual effects. I could see a rubystorm intiative combo working out ok. Thanks for the input. I think I might try doing that!
That could work, but in my testing, running rite and seething song made the deck prone to flooding. Also, having the rite didn't really increase my t2s by an appreciable %. It is still early days though, so maybe I'll go back to 4 rites if I find the deck slows down.
@@CosmicCharles466 it's all good man. Good run. I will play this for my channel this week if that's ok. I was actually trying to build this myself like 2 weeks ago
Sweet looking forward to it! Any changes? I haven't been as happy with Jewel Thief after I went down to 2 ephemerate. Chrysalis performs a similar role but better.
Nice, what was the list like? I tried chrysalis whn mh3 came out, but I endrd up going down a weird rabbit hole with eldrazi tokens, spring leaf drum and festerhide boar.
@@CosmicCharles466 it was just missing all the support crew that you have here. I was thinking I could go 12 initiative with torch and then use spawns etc to make use of it
Crazy deck. Just a question with malevolent rumble, i know it gets you the card you need plus a mana, but is it worth it losing some spells over it? Or are those ephems not really necessary to win?
Love the list but I'm still stuck on the impulse/prophet build. I just like swinging for lethal! I will say that the build to loop away their deck definitely seems as if it's more resilient to targeted removal. Have you been able to play this in paper yet?
Thanks! Yeah, swinging in is much easier as a win con. I just find the stream build to be more consistent in chaining. I haven't played paper in a while. I move around alot, so I pretty much only play paper in limited and with my buddy when I'm back in my hometown.
I feel like you have to be a genius to play this version of the deck. Like I enjoy watching the game play, but I don't think I can handle all that especially in paper.
@@CosmicCharles466 I played the Guttersnipe version of the deck and got two 1:1 draws because we went to time. Then again, it was against Poison Storm and Familiars, so it was a race to see who could win their game of solitaire first.
I'm still having fun, but I do have a Temur Cascade league that I'll be posting soon. I haven't really been interested in poison storm lately, but I might try a league with it.
Hey man just wanted to let you know how to go infinite with the loop to mill The stock pile is glimpse, morphose, morphose, stream You glimpse 3, then morphose At this point you just keep doing a pile of 4. At some point your yard has no morphose because they all go into exile. Start putting seething song in instead. This lets you build Mana forever and loop infinitely.
Ah yeah, you glimpse first. That does make it alot easier, thanks! What I meant by it not being a closed loop is that it requires different piles, so I don't think that you could short cut in paper. Still infinite though.
@@CosmicCharles466 I guess that's true. I think you can technically write out the full loop but it isn't the same every iteration so it would be like 15 steps haha
Lol yeah! Have you been playing the loop version? You're right about the cane win con being alot easier. Not needing to draw your entire deck each time can't be underestimated. The way I see it the loop build is better at drawing the deck, but the cane build is better at winning.
@@CosmicCharles466 I have pretty much put down the deck for the moment because hydroblast and removal has been too hard. But I wanted to help you out and find the line :)
@@kalikaiz Thanks, yeah it was getting painful. After watchung my gameplay, I can dee how glimpsing 1st would speed the whole jazz up. Yeah removal decks are hard. I've been getting lucky with my pairings so far.
The fastsest way to loop them out I found is to attempt to get 2-4 glimpse available in hand/exile and have 6-8 mana/treasue floating (depending in how many manamorphose you have access to). Then, replicate the stream of thought and shuffle in stream and manamorphoses + all your seething songs. Each seething song can equal 1 stream. With the intitial stream that's 20 cards. So 20 can be the new 0.
How do you get internet in the middle of the Amazon rainforest 😅. Love the deck. The "any order nonsense" is because the gardens player was running spinning darkness which forces them to stack their yard in a specific order. Not sure why it affects both players but it's been that way forever.
Lol thanks! I was streaming a woodland video for my cat. I liked how it filled out the background in my last video, so I decided to keep doing it. I might do a bubbling brook or smtng next time. Ah! Thanks for telling me!
No, I only have the revolutionist as protection, which can protect against grave exile, but only if its in your hand and you have instant speed discard. You could run a 3rd stream over the revolutionist in the main though. It depends on how popular main deck exile effects are
i think grapeshot deserves an unban in pauper. at the point you make 20 storm op is prolly bored and you have it anyway. just burning your clock to win. what do you think?
This was wild and I loved every second of it. The nice thing about these decks is that even if they're next to impossible on MTGO the loops in paper are significantly less intensive.
It was really fun to watch you play through it live and see the pressure on you from time and stuff. I think that the stream loop version has a lot of power but i have stayed away from doing it in the past due to things like pyro and relic haha
Yeah, it's really click intensive. I think I misclicked both matches and needed the revolutionist to save me. I haven't been too concerened about interaction, although maybe I should be. Running a 3rd stream + some other form of protection seems to be good enough to get around most things. But then again, this my first time streaming, so I don't really have the exp on post board gameplay
Have you considered having your MD win con be guttersnipe, and then to combat weather the storms and prismatic strands, sideboarding out the Guttersnipes into Stream of Thoughts? Seems like that would also mean you could cut any flaring pains from your SB to make room for the Streams.
@@SirCharlesOfKanto stream has a few problems that I don't like very much. I think that it's pretty easy to beat weather overall with this deck. So I tried stream before but bailed on it
@@kalikaiz is the main problem time on MTGO? If so, I mainly play irl so that shouldn't be much of a problem. I'm about to buy the deck so I'm trying to make sure I've looked into all the options XD
Thanks! That is the loop. I see it as just morphose and stream, but every 2-3 loops you need to shuffle back in a glimpse or another draw spell. I think it's possible to do with big score as well in case morphose gets exiled.
@@SirCharlesOfKanto here's what you do: once you have 0 cards in library and non-randomn card draw in hand, exile, or flashback ready, you shuffle in a stream and manamorphoses. Before you run out of card draw in hand/exile/flashback you'll need to shuffle back in a glimpse with the loop as well to continue looping.
It might not be the exact same every time with what you put back actually. Maybe if you build a bunch of blue you can put back a song You're going to stream them with zero in your library and put back a 4 card pile then draw into the full pile again
It's kind of fighting with glimpse, the other card draws are either mana producers or discard fodder. Glimpse/ideas only perform the card draw role and glimpse is in that spot. I haven't really been able to make room for it. Although, I suppose I could manage to squeeze in one or two....I'll see what has some flex.
Thanks! Desperate ravings as flashback draw spell # 5-8 is what really drew me to try out the 8 big score plan. I've been thinking about that card in pauper eversince I drafted a limited deck with 5 of them.
@@CosmicCharles466 right now I'm actually thinking of replacing ideas with demand answers and highway robbery. Demand can sac some extra treasures as legit card draw
@@matthewmagda4971 it's morphose + stream, but you'll need a few other piles before hand with glimpse to stack your hand with draw before getting there.
Thanks! Yeah, I spent sometime getting some games on my laptop, only to find that my playback wasn't working. So I played on my other laptop, but the replay broke from the combo. So I figured I'd upload one game so as to not have a complete waste before playing it live. I have to practice with it a bit first so it'll be a bit before a video, but hopefull this or next week. Stream of thought has been sick, good suggestion!
@@matthewmagda4971 it depenfs on how my graveyard looks like and whether I have a stream or a revolutionist in hand or exile, or how many of those are in the deck. If all 3 of those cards end up in the yard you have no way of winning.
I like it, but I prefer grotto for fixing the top of the library since it's untapped, can filter for other colours and bottom cards. It is a good option though.
Love the deck! Already built on paper and won a recent tournament. Just really sucks to plah against ponza lol. Ive played around with eureka moment as extra defence against. What do you think of the card?
Sweet, sounded like a fun tourny! I think it's definitly a good option for the 1-2 flex slot that's there right now. It being an additional way to protect your lands against ponza is appealing and it only costing 4 for hands where you only had 1 accelerant is pretty sweet. Right now I'm using the slot for rumble, to help out with the early game more, but I may test it. Thanks! Ponza got such a boost with mh3 that I just scoop when I see it now.
@CosmicCharles466 exactly! Kinda sucks I've been meaning to bring it into more tournaments but it's too miserable lol. Keep up the work though would love to see more gameplay of the deck 🔥
