Mother of 5, half French, half African, married to a Dutchman and crazy about Japan! Based in Amsterdam, my online shop is specialised in Japanese embroidery sashiko, kogin, boro and more...
Thank you for this video it was clear and one of the best constructions that I have seen on rice bags and sew quick to watch giving me more time to make one for myself. ❤
do you think I can do a similar pattern but without a drawstring? instead wanted to just have handles, do you think it would look weird or throw off the whole look of the bag ? thanks!
Such an interesting way to construct this bag! I would love to see the finished corners more clearly. I think they may be slightly boxed? I like that idea so much.
Love using Sashiko stitching...very relaxing. More design fun realized when I began using colorful threads to enhance the designs!!! My brother even let me Sashiko a patch on his torn blue jeans (@ his knee) late last year!!!
So beautiful!! How I would love to order a kit. Shipping charges to S Africa would be astronomical. Thank you for sharing. What have you used as a "lining" between the dark fabric?
Hi Kathy, thank you so much for your comment! I used some cheesecloth between the fabric. South Africa is far from the Netherlands but if what you order is light. the shipping fees would be between 10 and 19,30 euro. If you're interested, you can have a look on my website (japanesecraftcenter.com/) and send me a message using "contact" ;-)
That's amazing !! You did an incredible job!! May I ask where did you get your japanese fabric bundles, from your other video? Please post more videos. Thank you
Stunning! It's exactly what i want - even if it had only some boro I would still love it! Do you sell them or teach the pattern? I would love to just find the basic pattern to create the jacket!
Hi Heather, thank you so much! I think you could find a pattern for a hanten or kimono quite easily on the internet. The whole thing is made of rectangles so it's not that difficult to make. Most of the work, as you can imagine, was to sew all the pieces of fabic on top of it. You could use a regular jacket ( a thin one) and make it thicker and warmed using this method ;-) Good luck!
