I wonder if the Promenade will remain and if the demo included the Surf Building, the Lofts and the Villas? I was General Manager from '84 to '90. This Hotel started out as two separate Hotels separated by a city street to the beach. A Holiday Inn on one side and another Hotel. Somebody had the idea to purchase and fuse them together. I;m surte that klooked good on paper. The Promenade was open to locals for foot traffic.
They are supposed to guarantee beach access for locals according to the original zoning restriction agreement. But, the last plan I saw they were going to give the hotel control over Lori Wilson Park and the hotel will run all the events and concessions at the park. There will be an amphitheater and snackbar built, and I'm sure that means there will be many more days the park is closed unless you have a ticket to the event. So, I'm not super happy about that. Only time will tell.
