Sketches and drafts of songs and riffs I am working on. I welcome comments and feedback on what you're hearing and seeing!
I'm influenced by Jimmy Page, Mike Bloomfield, Boogaloo Joe Jones, and Grant Green on guitar. John Paul Jones and James Jamerson on bass. John Bonham on drums.
I've put up some of my tracks on ReverbNation so you can download them if you want to listen to them on an MP3 player: www.reverbnation.com/guitarjay
Besides Joey's magnificent drive I love this trio. It exudes empathy, comfort. You know, I played, with Joey at the piano when he was 15 to 16 jamming at the Village Gate's terrace NYC. Whe you think of a point when you might be able to play anything at anytime l think of Joey because he's, still, the one who gets closer to that point. He has become a model of inspiration for anyone and everyone and so he will be remembered
It's called Ring-a-Ding-Ding! Originally recorded and released by Frank Sinatra in 1961, but also recorded by John Pizzarelli and the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra in 2006.
Joey is amazing as usual in this extemporaneous performance. That said, something is off with the audio from Viscount organs vs. Hammond B2 organs IMHO (irrespective of Leslie speakers).
geez...the camera hangs on Joey and I never know if he's just kickin' pedals or if there's actually a bass player with them...maybe it's just the lower register on the B? either way, it's super stuff.
My wife just gave me the biggest compliment. She thought that was me playing tenor! (She wasn't watching the video). I wish I could perform with Joey DeFrancesco!
