Nice video! I've been to Burro Lake many times. The easiest way in is actually from Excelsior peak down one of the chutes (but it's not that easy). You can also head south from the pass above Virginia Lakes Basin and then descend a steep but doable chute. The "easiest" way out is to continue down to Lundy Lake but there is no trail and there are tough sections. Well worth it, especially as only a few people per year are willing to take it on.
@@YongsungKim My very soon target is Mt. Langley, but Morgan has long been on my bucket list. Thanks in part to you, I have some info to go on. Jumbly!
I hiked Mt Morgan twice, once in November, another in May. I liked it a lot more in May. Check this out. It was straightforward even in the snow. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nryQRHsf7r4.html
Wow, so nice to see you and that you’ve ben doing this for quite sometime. You’re an excellent mountaineer. I only wish I could climb the peaks you have. Love your recent Kings Canyon climbs. Cheers from ORegon
This is my first hiking video from a decade ago. You might notice that I look younger and heavier in this video. I'm now 20 pounds lighter than I was back then.
Dunderberg Peak is in my to do list. I heard it's reputation. Congratulations. Yes, you're right. Excelsior mountain was pretty straightforward to climb and the scenery was beautiful.
The view from Diving Board always is impressive. I didn't know you could camp in the Diving Board area. Do you need a permit and if yes where do you apply for it? Thanks.
Overnight backpacking always requires a permit. I got a self issued permit as it was out of the quarter season (early April). During the quarter season, you will need a permit for the trailhead, which is happy isle.
In my understanding, the Diving Board area does not fall under the criteria for no-camping zones. Therefore, I believe camping there is permitted. Please refer to the wilderness regulations for confirmation. www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/wildregs.htm
We've been following your travels for a while now and would love to see what foods you and your friends pack for camping. The noodles always look so good!!!!
I can remember my grandfather who was living in a gold mining town in Northern California telling me stories of watching Mt Lassen's last eruption around 1914.
Wow, that's incredible! It must have been an awe-inspiring sight to witness Mt. Lassen's last eruption firsthand. It's amazing to hear stories passed down through generations. Thank you for sharing this piece of history with me.
Glad that my video brought my your memories. I've done this hike when there was no snow. I agree that it's a brutal hike. Surprisingly, it was much more enjoyable hike with lots of snow as the scenery was magical.
Many years ago I climbed Mt. Lassen, but it was in Summer. I recall this massive boulder field, like nothing I’d ever seen before. Truly amazing. Thanks for sharing your beautiful climb. You captured so much beauty in such a short video!
