Well it looks like it will happen in 2034. We will know on the 24th of July and there is a watch party for that announcement that will be held in downtown SLC starting @ 3 am that morning to celebrate the announcement coming from the IOC in Paris. There will be big screen T.V.'s set up, food trucks, etc. and it will be at Washington Square outside of the historic Salt Lake City & County building. I'm the 90's, there were over 50,000 people there for the announcement of the 2002 winter Olympic games.
Iv lived in utah my whole life and even served an lds mission in sorthern utah. My biggest complaint is the stinking drivers. Im starting to road laws are more guidelines then anything😊
St. George is more expensive for the square footage for sure and the median home price is shooting up well beyond that of the 3 metro areas along the Wasatch Front
I will definitely be reaching out! We are planning to move to a small town outside of Salt Lake City. Not sure where yet, but would love some advice & ideas of where to move!
Hi Luis!! Here's the top industries in a Utah: - Aerospace & Defense - Life sciences - Healthcare - Advanced Manufacturing - Construction Trades... all of them! - Tech Let new know if there's anything that I can do for you!
I lived in Utah from 1988-2011, save a couple of years in the mid 90s. Basically, high school and Undergrad. Moved in 2001 and have never moved back. I dont plan to. I still have siblings down there, and Im willing to make that trip 1-2 times a year, but outside of that, Im good. Im good.
Hi Andrea!!! Yes, it's currently proposed but not yet approved. Citing increased costs of fuel and wholesale power, as well as investments in new electric transmission and generation projects, Rocky Mountain Power has proposed a controversial general rate increase. By the end of the two-year rollout of the rate increase submitted to the Public Service Commission for review, customers will see an estimated 30% increase on their bills amounting to about $24 dollars per month.
Scott is an awesome person. We came to SLC for two weeks to explore housing options. He toured us to over 50+ properties-all without asking for anything in return. He is one of the best realtors I have met!
I used to live in Utah. "Born and raised' as they say... I want to go back. But I literally can't afford anything above $150k. It's so heartbreaking to think I might never make it back to my home state where my family is all because costs have gone up so criminally high... 😢
I can move and live there, Im friendly ,I dont smoke , I dont drink and I dont party. Safety and convenience is my priority. I guess that my kind of place to live.

You left out Cottonwood Heights, which made the top 100 cities nationally after it was incorporated. Cottonwood Heights is known as the “city between the canyons” and is even closer when accessing the Cottonwood Canyons than Sandy. Biggest con is probably home prices but both mountain and city views from many of those homes is phenomenal.
I love it Louise! Thanks for sharing! I went to high school @ Cottonwood High and my office, where I work every single day, is in Cottonwood Heights at the Old Mill corporate center and I LOVE IT! I have been accused of being too biased when I include Cottonwood Heights and South Jordan where I now live so I'm trying too use other data points as well
I am from Southern California and recently moved to Utah. The drivers are bad. They drive fast and are rude. You would think they would be nicer. Also it is an unspoken rule that you have to drive 10-15 miles over the spend limit. They don’t care about extreme weather conditions. UTAH NEEDS MORE STREET LIGHTS. You can’t see shit at night, never mind hitting an animal or blinding opposing traffic with ur high beams
People stay in the lanes but drive so fast on the interstate and it’s almost bumper to bumper at 80-90mph and the lanes are super tight. I never enjoy the drive to visit family there
I visited Utah about 2013 for a training course for work. I had a wonderful time and I had a rental car. I did not notice drivers any worse than where I live. Loved Salt Lake City. it was cold and grey but it was early Spring.
I live in Utah. When I was a child, I loved Utah. But now I want to leave. The crime rates have increased SOOOOO MUCH and the costs of living just keep raising more and more. Even renting is a hassle. The climate is not a bother. Utah weather is bipolar so you can have all four seasons in one day. The construction is HORRIBLE. It is constant and nonstop and they are tearing down perfectly good family houses to build huge apartment complexes. The recreational activities and parking is decreasing drastically to make way for more over expensive apartments. The home I loved is now turning into a giant city of apartments with few avenues for fun and getting more and more expensive every day. Nevermind the LDS population(I am one) there are just as many atheists, catholics, etc. Lastly, we have several serial killers and tons of kidnappers. So many women who meet the same criteria go missing every year, and children of all walks of life disappear. I'm paranoid with my own children here. Love Utah for the memories I have growing up, hate it for it's current state and want to leave.
Hey Scott, what a great informative video 🙌🏼. I’m moving to Utah to work in Montage deer valley, in F&B. I need you help if you won’t mind, I need to find a a small rental near to Montage. Any advice would be appreciated 🙏🏻
I want more trains and less cars. (Stop building 6 lain plus roads they suck) maybe if the Olympics come here it will surge more public transport again.
Please, for the love of sanity, yours and the SLC area resident's, DON'T!!!!! The winter air quality is horrible and the lakes ( Utah Lake and Great Salt Lake are both drying up from lack of clean water coming in. Then, there's the smell of a half million years worth of rotting brine shrimp whenever a storm comes and stirs the extremely shallow lake beds. I've been trying to escape from it for more than 50 years but it always finds a way to drag me back. Each new human makes it worse. Ths place is becoming Hell.
Low wages and high home prices. Yeah, don’t move to Utah unless you have a lot of free cash to use as a down payment so you can afford the mortgage payment
The airport is not people friendly, such as a almost 1 1/2 mile walk to your boarding area. During the winter months the smog, inversion layer is quite bad. We have 3 seasons: Construction Season, Winter, and a dash of fall/spring, and I mean dash. Most areas close down on Sunday, so the night life sucks. So thinking of moving here, think again. Sorry, but, the truth is what it is.
The airport is not finished.... this is why that long walk exists right now but if you follow what's going on, the completion of the next phase is happening this fall. Besides, walking is good for us! And you're right, nobody moves here for the nightlife.
I have lived in Utah for the last 14 years, and I do agree the driving isn't great. One of my friends who lived here their whole life has a saying for the red light crazies, "Once the light is red it is 3 seconds or 3 cars." Personally my biggest gripe is the lack of rainfall/thunderstorms. I really miss the frequency of a good storm as well as some humidity(mostly for my skin). Agree housing is crazy and you won't find many young single home owners, it takes 2 incomes to be comfortable owning a house.
I get it, but we live in a beautiful country where we have the freedom to move where we'd like and Utah is a beautiful state who's beauty extends far beyond just it's landscapes... people come because of what we've built here
A couple notes from my observations living here: If you're moving to Utah County, watch out for property close to the rivers or lakes. The developments have pushed closer and closer and when my wife and I were home shopping we even declined a couple homes that were too close or within the 100-year flood line. Utah is presently in a severe drought conditions. Should that reverse, the lakes and waters will rise and homes have in the last couple years had to deal with flooding. My wife is originally from Lehi, when it was a small town with plenty of pasturelands. To see what that was like, watch "Footloose" which I swear is Utah's unofficial State Film. Lehi is a lot different from when that movie was made (which can be distressing to my small-town wife). I'm originally from Oregon, specifically the Portland area. People born and raised in Utah complain about road construction and traffic. There's nothing to complain about. Construction can add 10-20 minutes to your commute (more if you live a distance from SLC), but as noted in the video, Utah actually builds roads and improves existing roads to relieve traffic. In Oregon bad traffic could add over an hour to what should be a 20 minute commute. I've rarely had anything that bad here. We live Taylorsville, which is in the NW zone, which didn't get a lot of glowing praise. I will say it's close to downtown which we really like. When I was working downtown, we had ready access to mass transit and I took the train to work every day. Utah's light rail is world's better than Portland's in my opinion. It's planned much more effectively. There's plenty in this area to appreciate. However, Taylorsville is smack dab in the middle of several suburban areas already, so it's not expanding all that much. You will most likely be buying an existing home here, but I think the location is worth it.
I live in academy Park, West valley. I've lived in Utah all my life and we were always east side dwellers. I told my husband I would never live past 1300 East. In 2020 we bought a home in West valley City. I hate West valley, however I LOVE academy Park area. Beautiful neighborhood, neighbors, quiet. We've never had any issues with theft or crime in our neighborhood. However, if I had the opportunity to move back to the East side, I would.
Utah lake is a lake, not a reservoir and due to its location at the bottom of a basin in Utah County, it's sort of like a giant shallow bathtub. It used to be polluted but it's not anymore and the overall water quality is good. However, it's what is called a hypereutrophic lake meaning it's very high in minerals as well as nutrients like nitrogen and phosphorus so you wouldn't want to eat fish from this lake. It's very shallow with a muddy lake bed which gives it a less than desirable color and it also can be greatly affected by seasonal algae blooms. Yes you can boat on it and ski (sometimes) but most people go to one of our many reservoirs instead.
@@scottdsteele thanks a lot for the details i appreciate it. I love ski season and boating so SLC is good for my relocation. But i wanna find rural property.
