Follow me on my weekly (sassy) catan matches against other people online on colonist.io! I post almost every game I play, whether or not I win. We’re here to have fun, improve, try different strategies, and learn from my mistakes.

The name Elly comes from the auto generated username that colonist gave me when I first joined (Elly0889). I’ve always liked that name so I kept it.

I think building to the right was too slow. The 3:1 would have made your hand actionable and you wouldn't have had to hold causing you to 7 out multiple times. Also you wouldn't have had to build as far and the double up on the 10. Maybe also with the idea of the early road building building from the left. Getting road later but maybe black breaking it. Just my thoughts though
In my experience, brick and wood are absolutely crucial in 1v1 to expand as fast as possible, with the exception being if all the wood and brick are low pips. Not sure why David disagreed with your initial placements. The only change I woulda made is putting ur second placement at the 6:4:3 so he doesn’t have control over all the ore spaces. Also, you could have totally plowed in the mid game by dropping one road downwards and building onto the 9:4:3 spot, therefore doubling your ore production on 4, and cutting off any further expansion opportunities for him. Either way, well played game!
i was purposly racing a player with no wood and no brick once and their first dev card was a roadbuild. screwed the rest of my game ... even emotionally hahahah
One thing that would pivotal for your game is knowing when to dev or when to city. A city early is way better then devs cards. Especially if you don't pose a threat. Early on you have also have way more chance at deving and getting a knight. Later on at some point you ported for a 2nd city wich was a huge misplay since at that point the devs were getting low.
minor critique/food for thought. on placements when opting to go with 3/5 resources it’s advised that you have really good pips or at least and 8/6. still really well played outside of not taking advantage of the sheep scarcity early.
Your past 2-3 games have been so nerve wrecking and so stressful hahhaha. But some of the best and most entertaining to watch! Glad you were able to come out on top!
