ATLANTA BASED VLOGGER • WELCOME • JIM

Hey guys. I'm JIm. I live in Atlanta now, but I grew up in small town Alabama. You'll see and hear tales of my life in the big city and see scenes from my travels on the back roads of the American South.

There's always something interesting or crazy around the next curve in the road and I do my best to capture those moments.

Wow it has been a long time since the old days. I'm so sorry about your losses. I lost my son, best friend, and mother. Being left behind sucks! I'm glad you are keeping busy though. I'm celebrating your strength 🎉 sending you so much love and support

James, it's good to see you again after so many years. Sometimes if you just transfer your goods from one storage space to another, at the same facility, you can start over with a new lease at a lower price. Also don't hesitate to ask for a rent reduction. Yes, I have a part-time job at a storage facility. You're looking well and healthy despite your losses. I'm so sorry to hear you've lost loved ones. You can always rent a van and take an overnight trip. Wish I as there to share your journeys. Take care, love.

It would have been better if whoever filmed this knew more about the movie. Should have done his homework & the narrative would have worked better.

A 17 year RU-vid career is insane. You look healthy as ever. I did 4 months of van life in 2020. Now I’ve got a big house in Charlotte, NC. I garden a lot now. I have chickens, and now I’m raising tilapia too. I just ran a marathon yesterday. You’re so well spoken. I’d love to see your adventures on RU-vid again, but take your time. I know you’ve been through a lifetime of pain in the last few months.

I was excited see the notification for your video! I’ve always enjoyed your content. I’m sorry to hear about the death of your sister and Brent. Sounds like some valleys you’ve passed through since we saw you three years ago. You look really good. And, as always, I like your interior design aesthetic from what I can see. I understand the attraction of minimizing possessions and traveling. I think about that, too. But I’d still need a home base with my stuff. 😀 Take care, Jim, and hope to see a video from you sooner next time. Will Fort Worth, TX

So nice to see you Jim. You know me as Rob from FB and Out Late But Great (shout out to Mic, the Ohio Jim and Jason) Finding the full coming out process invigorating and frustrating. My eldest grandson was and is my inspiration. He came out before me which gave me the spur to do it as well. Recovery from knee replacement is going well. PT feels I'll be using just a cane by summer. Have affiliated with the NEW local LGBTQ ally group in Port Huron, MI Blue Water Allies Center and participated in several events. in fact due there tonight for an open MIC session doing spoken word, my first foray back into public speaking since I did it competitively in high school. Looking forward to doing more there with the 55+ group, those with religious trauma group among others. Lots of family drama to contend with as well. I think you should give traveling a try. Bryan and Jay from Gay Family values are going to do it on an EPIC scale seeing countries AND continents over the next few years. Nothing that epic for you yet but me thinks you should venture up to the mid west at least and see me and Ohio Jim on the way. Really want all the hate at us who are queer, really all who are hated: to just disappear. Stay in touch friend. Good to see and hear you again.

"All of my emergency contacts are dead." I don't know why that struck me as funny, but it did. I strive for minimalism but I keep collecting new enthusiasms.

Great to see you again, Jim, and thanks for the update. I’ve been watching your videos for 10+ years and was pleasantly surprised to receive the notification that you had posted again. I’m so sorry to hear that your sister and partner have passed away but am thrilled that you’re still around - along with Dutchess, of course (who still looks energetic for her age). Keep taking of yourself and I hope that you will periodically continue to post more videos. Your insight, observations and friendly demeanor/southern charm have always been appreciated and enjoyable to watch. All the best! Joe in DC.

Good to hear from you. So sorry for your losses. We just said goodbye to mom-in-law. I have friends from high school that did the nomad thing for a year of early retirement. Good on em for planning to be able to do that, and their photos from across the US was fun. - going with them on the adventure vicariously. I could never. Many of us ol’ folks from back in the day on the ‘tubes have moved on to real life. I keep up with those that I can. I know you’d know what I’m talking about when I say I stopped because family found my channel and ridiculed me. You moved channels for a similar reason. They don’t get what we had in the community back then. Hope to see how this idea plays out. If you have the freedom and the means, live life well. Be bold. Best wishes, -dan’l

My Grandpa was born an raised up there. They came from NC to Georgia, to Sand Mountian. They were Tants, Bridges, and Wilsons. Records say he was born at Carlisle Beat. I remember the stories about all the people he knew. Some were funny some were tragic. Living there during the Great Depression. And boy he knew how to grow the biggest, best, watermelons in the world. They came up to Tennessee and finally bought a small farm. They picked it out because the ground was sandy just for growing watermelons.

I know this video was posted a long time ago, and I don't know if you'll see this, but this was quite a memory for me, as well. I'm not from there, but visited extensively decades ago. My mother in law and her second husband lived on Sand Mountain for a number of years, and my wife and I and our then-baby son would visit them. We spent the entire holiday season, from Thanksgiving through New Year's Day, up there in 1994. It was nice, snowy, wintery at that time. I actually recognize some of these highways and places from up there. They lived just west of Henagar, near Dutton, right on 40. I can remember those drives down the mountain west of there, down the winder and over the bridge into Scottsboro. Great memories, especially around the holidays. We also visited in the summers of 1992 and 1994. Anyway, thought I'd share, even if you don't get this.
