Love Gianni as Stalker. His gravelly take on the Stalker will lead to more serious lines from the character. I don't think it would be good to hear a full on conversation from him with the old voice. Deep and menacing sounds much better than raspy and demonic.
I prefer how inhuman the old one sounds. The new one just sounds like some guy. An edgy, gruff guy, but still a guy. The old one had the feeling of a mysterious being usually unable to talk and struggling to do so. The new one much less so.
I feel bad saying it, but Reb might be overdoing it with “gotta catch them all” with the VAs. I definitely like the voice, but it’s just not Stalker. It needs a filter, needs to more raspy/struggle to speak.
They should’ve kept his old voice for the quest. As a sort of progression checkpoint. Replaying the quest, I was under the Mandela affect that something was up, and now I know I was right! Not to throw shade and Giovanni, but, this new voice ain’t it chief
They should've only changed the voice of Stalker after completed the Jade Quest, story wise. It would make alot sense why his voice sounds more human instead like a ghost, a reaper before.
I do think they could have put the more of the filter they used in the old one on, but people acting like Gianni had anything to do with that and that his voice is just worse are straight up wrong its just a lack of the whispery weird filter that makes the new sound worse in some parts
Man the old one is definitely more "woah" factor, the new one is ok but it may be nostalgia talking but the old one just sounds so well and inhuman that it fits stalker atleast pre jade.
It really looks like everyone likes the old one cause it fits the narrative he played a part in. So I'm not going to say the new voice IS better than the old one. But in my opinion, it at least SOUNDS better. Kind of an unpopular opinion I see though so don't take what I'm saying seriously.
There was literally no point in changing him they just wanted to feel special. How about instead of focusing useless changes onto a voice actor and replacing all original lines with new lines you could uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Fix the Syam Nikana Fix Host Migration (i dont experience it much, but many I've seen do) Fix the Mod Configuration tutorial so 70% of new players arent confused for the first 2 hours after seeing it (ive seen this happen many times) But nah instead they wanna go "hey lets just change Stalker's voice lines it wont give us any profit and instead costs us money to pay this guy just so we can replace lines for the sake of..... well we dont really know we just heard the word "new" and assumed "better""
The old version a bit harder to make cuz if you listen close, you can hear its 2 differently pronaunced voice lines layered on each other. And the old voice actor is almost whispers his line, giving stalker that foggy and mistycal affect. You just feel his unemotional hatred. Personaly, when i met stalker for the first time, he just scared shit outta of me. I will miss old VA.
Honestly what I like about the new voice is the fact that you're able to hear more of his emotion, which makes sense for a character who's entirely fueled by hate.
