So proud of you sister! You've completed your undergraduate in which course??? I'm not from a physiotherapy background but I want to become a physiotherapist in uk. I'm from a biology background. Can I opt for MSc Physiotherapy pre registration course?
Thank you! my undergrade was in BSc Sport and Exercise Science with a year abroad. Double check with the universities of interest but with a biology degree you should be able to get onto a pre-reg course.
@@ArrayRay_physio hello ma'am, I've received an interview from university of Northampton for MSc Physiotherapy pre registration course, they've mentioned about two activities of 30 minutes and 40 minutes respectively. I want to know more about these activities and the questions they'll ask.
Hi! The MSc was reasonably challenging but the transition from sport science was alright. It was helpful having the anatomy knowledge. In the 1st year everyone expect maybe the BSc sport therapy people are on the same page
Do you think u have ever once regreted for studying Your master or doing job...... Because most of them will say don't come here...... Those who are saying is not from medical professionals Plz reply waiting for your replyyyyyyyyy❤
@@ArrayRay_physio one of my fellow know their in uk he have only bpt degree but he is in band 7 level..... I asked him how is this, he said in nhs u will gain master level experience co you don't need to do mpt..... Is this true... Plz replyyyyy Waiting for your reply... ❤✅
@@AmithKumar-w9o This could be the case for their trust or the role they have. Typically I have heard otherwise. I'm sure if you have all the qualities a job is looking for + more, excluding a masters that you might still be considered for a job
Hi!✨✨ About to go into year 13- and I have a question about a levels- So basically , I want to go down the chiropractic / physiotherapist/ osteopathic route For a levels I’m doing maths and biology obviously , but do I need chemistry? I’m asking because I might want to take an ‘easier’ subject to get me that other A
@cosmo9135 Sorry, I thought I replied to your comment. I would say that chemistry is not needed because you have biology which should be more than enough to cover you
This is so encouraging, especially the point that you mentioned about not overburdening yourself with the expectation to know everything. You evidence this nicely with other senior physios you have worked with, who have done the same. I am happy you are growing and becoming a well-rounded physio coming out with this video!
@user-my4dk3ji2o You'll also need HCPC to practice in the UK. You have a better chance with a band 5 over a 6 because they usually look for more experience
Hi, sorry I've just seen this. I'll make a template and link it by this weekend. The document currently has a lot of information related to my Trust that I would rather not share.
Hiya I’m in my 3rd year of pharmacology Bsc applying for pre registration next year. If I achieve a 2:1 or 1st class bsc degree, do they ask about A level? Cuz my AL grades are not that competitive. Also for St. George, they mention that the pre Registration code on UCAS is under the undergraduate application and not the postgraduate application, what if I already made an undergraduate application 3 years ago for my ongoing degree , what happens next Thank you in advance
@gabriellasirini307 Hey, they didn't ask me about my education before the BSc. To apply to St George's you could make another ucas account or use the same one, having applied for your Bsc through the same account before will not stop you. Best of luck x
Hi I am planning on switching universities for second year becuase I feel like the new university I am applying to will be a better for graduate prospects. However, I achieved a B in maths in A-levels, and the entry requirements for the course for maths is an A, will this be a problem?
@tommathew9450 I would contact their admin time to discuss it because they may choose to accept you based on your first year grades if they show that your managing the course content
@@daniel-gi5vy The teacher understood my reasoning for transferring and told me that the campus is more of a commuter campus...something which was not advertised. Yes, I was able to transfer out.
Hi, I'm currently in college doing a BTEC in Sport and Exercise Science (national extended diploma, predicted D*D*D*). I'd very much like to pursue a career in physiotherapy, however I'd like your opinion on whether I should do a BSc or MSc in the degree (MSc with Sport Science as an undergrad degree). I've heard that the undergraduate course in physiotherapy is very competitive and I doubt I'll be offered a place at any of my desired uni's (Birmingham, Livepool, or Nottingham). But then what are the chances of me being offered a place onto a Masters course doing physiotherapy after doing my undergrad degree? How do I ensure I stand out from the rest, who I assume the majority will have the exact same undergrad degree as me and secure a place on the course? I'm afraid that after obtaining a degree Sport Science I won't be offered a place anywhere and it would've been a complete waste of time. Please let me know your thoughts, sorry for the long message.
Hi, Woohoo team BTEC Sports! Getting into a physiotherapy course is competitive no matter the route that you take. I took the route of BSc Sport Science then MSc Pre-reg Physiotherapy, it was the best decision for me. Don't doubt yourself, I did not expect to get into Birmingham. It is true that with the masters you will be applying for a space alongside other Sport science/ therapy graduates, you may also have people that want a career change. The masters typically have a smaller cohort, mine however had 60 people which was considered large in comparison to the usual 20 people. The masters also requires you to grasp the information at a faster rate because the degree is only 2 years long // The intensity is not for everyone. On the other hand BSc degrees accept more applicants, usually people have less work experience so the "playing field" can be fairly even. The degree is over 3-4 years giving you more time to develop your skills and knowledge. To stand out from others get direct and indirect work experience (shadowing, working as a support worker, attending talks, getting a part-time job with a vulnerable population or just the public comes with various transferrable skills). I hope I have not caused more stress with this answer. ArrayRay :)
Hi Mariah, thanks for sharing, I enjoy your videos coz I can relate to a lot of them. Recently watched the one you made about physio myths and had a good laugh because they’re all so true! Nice to hear your experiences and reflection. I’m in 2nd year on my apprenticeship and I’m on a respiratory placement (week 3 of 6). In the critical care team as well so I’ve learned loads and similar to you, feel more comfortable with respiratory but I know I still have loads more to learn. I’m fine with the post op patients and have been seeing them by myself (long arm supervision type of thing). Do you have any tips or learning resources you can share specific to improving my knowledge of ventilators and skills of treating ventilated patients? Thank you in advance!
Hey Rodney, it's lovely hearing that you enjoy my content and find it relatable. Too many misconceptions to address haha. How do you find the apprenticeship? erm, for tips I would say speak to the ITU nurses as they are working with the vents all day they always seemed happy to answer any of my questions. At my Trust, we have resources on the shared drive so check there. However, you could also search for the make/model of the ventilator as the company may have their own useful guide. In terms of teaching, your skills will improve with experience. It's easier when you have a patient case in front of you than in a textbook e.g
@@ArrayRay_physio thank you so much, I will chat more to the nurses and yes, on the shared drive there is a PowerPoint presentation on vents which I will look at as well. I’m finding the apprenticeship really good for my learning style as I’m a very practical learner. Not gonna lie, it does get hectic but it’s worth it. Can’t wait to qualify tho!! 😅😅
@RodneyDubePhysioApprentice most places offer 6 months but I really didn't want that, so I seeked trusts that offer 4 months. I think 4 months is ideal for me. The only time I wanted longer was when I was on complex medicine and I spent 5 ½ months with them
Hi..I had finished my diploma in sport science recently. For now I’m indecisive whether to continue degree in sport science, as majority of them are athletes except for me… will be harder for me to continue my degree compared to those athletes?
@ArrayRay_physio I'm really sad that some of them will look down on me :( While learning to play sports, my progression is slower and not as fit as them
Love this video!! Heading into a 2 year MSc Physio pre reg course myself in September. Weirdly had very similar experience with St George’s as you!!! 👀 would you be willing to do a videos on HCPC and CSP registration (application process, timeline, challenges, tips etc.) would be hugely appreciated 😁
Thank you so much for commenting! Good luck on your final year 😊. It's a shame that people are still having that experience with them. Sure, this request comes at a great time. I can work this into a video that I'm filming this week about the CSP. You should check out their final year webinar that runs every year. This year it is on Thursday (June 6th 2024 @ 18:30), I will be speaking in the Q&A section
@@ArrayRay_physio thank you so much. The ego is so strong it can’t be beat!! Can’t wait for your next video. Will definitely check out that CSP webinar. See you there! 😁👏
Sorry, I forgot that last year I made a video on the HCPC process, if there is anything additional that you would like to know feel free to ask :) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5AtYsWwdCss.html
Hi, i have my physiotherapy interviews coming up, on average how many patients do you see per day and do you find you manage to get all of your documentation finished before the end of your shift? Thank you.
It depends on the speciality, patient needs and priorities. On complex medicine if I didn't have a chest or discharge planning then approx 12. On intensive care 7 or 8 patients. Respiratory wards 10 if not chest physio required. On a day full of discharge planning it could be a little as 5 patients depending on the complexity of the discharge
Hii is there any way I can contact you personally? I’m in my 2nd year of uni studying sports science and I really wanna do physiotherapy like you but I’m just feeling so discouraged because I didn’t start off with a physio course
Hey Array! I am a BSc first-year physio student from a university in London. I want to transfer to study physio at UoB next year, have you heard of any people transferring into the degree in the second year?
Hey, I haven't heard of anyone doing it but it doesn't mean that it's never been done. Speak to Uob, I imagine it will heavily dependent on the comparison of the course structures
im planning to choose msc nursing by research can you plz tell me how many days i have to go to uni in this course? and is it worth for doing this this course from UOB??
@gouravmakkar_ the demands of my physiotherapy masters would not be comparable to that of a nursing masters. I imagine there being more contact time and demands. It is best to speak to a nursing student even if they are doing the BSc as they will be able to give you a better idea of what the MSc may look like
Thanks for your info it was really helpful. do we add our first year diploma or certificate in the UCAS while giving the application or its done after the submission?
You're welcome. The diploma information is added onto UCAS during the application process. I have a walk through video if you're interested ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NTFFVPh6ofY.html
Hi! I hope you see this, I’m currently thinking about transferring closer to London from the midlands since I hate the structure of the course here, I don’t know if it’s too late in the year to transfer ? Do you think it will be okay?
I dont think it's too late. By now you will have had some grades and general feedback on your character etc which could be used in an application. Reach out to the universities of interest and see what they think and if they accept people transferring into their 2nd year.
@@ArrayRay_physio okay thank you! Sorry I just have one more thing, did you have to pick a firm and insurance when you applied through UCAS the second time around ?
Hey Array , I am an international student and i have done my bachelor’s in physiotherapy from India so for enrolling myself into the Msc program here in Uk is it necessary for me to have a clinical experience ?
Congratulations on getting the job! Interviews can be stressful, I remember stumbling my way through some of the questions. In terms of prepping front door, when I did it as a student I think i was just told that there was not much prep. I was told that I would see a lot of falls, dementia and would do some discharge planning to avoid admissions. In terms of advice for a new band 5, I would say just try and be yourself. It is easier said than done. But, I have let my personality shine, spoke to other band 5's because they are in the same boat as me. Another thing that was nice is that my trust does new starter lunches, so whoever likes will come along and meet the new starter.
@@ArrayRay_physio Thanks for the reply! Okay I feel a lot better knowing there is not much prep. I definitely can’t wait to meet the other band 5s and the team as a whole 💜
hi i don't usually comment on videos but i just found your videos and i find them really insightful as a year 12 student wanting to go into physio!!! thank you for all that you do and i'm glad to see that you still post, looking forward to future uploads too! (just binged a few of your videos even tho it's currently 3am haha)
This is awesome! I've been on my second reotation for a just over a month now and I'm really enjoying the new environment. I felt the same about leaving the last team, but have really benefited from how the two settings contrast..
I start my second rotation tomorrow. I have spoken to the new team more, and they seem less 'scary', I also know that I have made great friendships with my current team, and those will not be lost when I rotate. I am excited to enhance my respiratory knowledge as I enjoy doing chest physio. Maybe I'll do a reflection on here how my first month has been then again at the end for a comparison.
Hi Maria! I’m currently a physio student and applying for band 5 jobs. Should I answer “yes” to both “have you got a degree in physiotherapy” and “have you got HCPC registration” on the application form if they take students?
