My truck starts fine, but it won’t shift to 4 low, I believe the clutch switch is maybe the issue as I have already replaced every other possible part involved in shifting and if this isn’t it , I guess I will start trying to find another truck, I believe that the wire for cruise control goes to the shift module, as this truck doesn’t have cruise control, but it’s pure speculation as no wiring diagram exists in this dimension. It is an 02 manual 3 liter 4wd edge, and I am in the mood to procure some dynamite and blow it to smithereens, anyone know anything about it? Yes I know the pedals need to be down to shift, I have been driving it for 22 years

Great information Fran. So the RE big bars get in the way. In watching other reviews the Givi bars create issues like not being able to access oil filter properly. I would consider looking up Givi bars on Himalayan and seeing what shows up to the TUBE . Ride Safe!

Not really, I drove for many years a 80's F150 that had no safety anything, (which included) the stupid clutch safety junk trash even was my family cruiser it's all in how responsible the owner/operator is but I'll tell you this I feel it's a whole lot less "dangerous" than the automated driving vehicle or the let-go-of-the-wheel parallel parking assist trash
@kurtownsj00
@kurtownsj00 Год назад
@@franmitch3589 I fully agree with " it's all in how responsible the owner/operator is". I've seen people crash through their garage door because of this exact "fix", just like some drivers crash because they mixed up the pedals. Common sense isn't always common. That being said yeah, if someone is performing this on their own, they probably know the risks involved.

Don’t ever sell that beast. Lots of potential and got the dual discs in front. I would just upgrade the 883 to a 1250 or 1275 and some cams, intake and exhaust. Maybe some other minor things but keep the overall look of that sportster. That thing is a classic now.

Because it was just a beater bike not worthy of a garage & being a middle class working family man it was a rare occasion to have storage for such a toy much less the bike itself, sucks trying to earn money at part time gigs making minimal wages raise kids pay bills but still have that longing to own stuff outta the financial reach of blue collar working man of modern age, as stated was a rare occurrence that I even could afford such a hand-me-down machine so having a heated garage to keep it outta the elements are for far financially vested individuals

I did this today. I had this problem 10 years ago when I bought my car and it started yesterday. I ordered the switch but thought it would be easier to just bypass. It was so tight down there that it would have been next to impossible to replace anyway. Plus, I have muscle memory to press on clutch anyway. I should have soldered but had no solder. I just twisted and covered with electrical tape

@Bawkr
@Bawkr 2 месяца назад
I think it's safer without it, when you have it, it still doesn't prevent you from dropping the clutch back down after starting it. So there is no difference. Killed my first manual car many times when being in a auto for awhile. When at home always park somewhere safe where you can't hit or roll into others. Not an option for everyone but if you have the option use it. Having the switch there is dangerous because when it goes out you can easily roll backwards into traffic. Course once you're mentally tuned to how you're vehicle enters first it's less of an issue but when first buy one of these that's all worn out needs some tlc it's one heck of a risk. Love this thing tho gears are spaced apart a lot better than my Aveo. Although first is even more pushy than my Aveo so I roll more often in this Aveo has a nice slow crawl gear barely moves in it. Aside from that though the gearing is a lot more fun in the 2.3L than Aveo.

Chase Yates that is a 94 soft tail not really recommended for new riders its carburetor is a finicky design and the solid mount 80ci or 1340cc is a rough engine compared to newer ones heck the new sportsters are almost better than the old big twins
